Chillaxes located in Crofton, MD was really fun. We had a group of 12 and reserved the VIP area. The VIP is suppose to come with a specialty axe, a cooler filled with water and soda as well as snacks…
The cooler was a nice touch but it only contained 3 cans of sprite, 4 cans of coke, 6 cans of Diet Coke and 2 mini bottles of water. The snacks consisted of an assortment of individually bagged chips and pretzels thrown down on one of the table tops. Presentation matters!!!
The staff on shift that night seemed to be 3 college aged kids…I didn’t get their names but the tallest one was very helpful as the computer in my section froze and he had to reset it at least twice…he ended up calling the owner and was given permission to move us to another lane to complete our time. NICEEEEE
They provide tables for you to put your drinks and food but it seemed a bit limited…one group just helped themselves to the table that was suppose to be for my area but hey…no biggie there.
The event space is clean and spacious. They had sanitizing stations and Clorox just about everywhere - but I wish they had contactless sanitizing stations as the push mechanism they had wasn’t very user friendly.
They had a section of chillaxe keepsakes but we didn’t notice them much until we were leaving…I’d suggest advertising those items during the training at the beginning.
Overall all 12 of us had a blast and are looking forward to going back again…
You are able to bring your own food, beer and wine which was a plus…everyone was drinking responsibly and within reason so for sure they have something good going on over there.
Oh yes…pricing - I think it’s a bit pricey but...
Read moreI had SOOOO much fun at Chill Axes - Axe Throwing! It was my first time ever axe throwing and I had a BLAST! I loved how they had so many different games you could choose from. If you didn't want to play games they have multiple bullseye/targets to pick from - the girls picked a pink green and purple target - (we setup guys on one side and ladies on the other). There was a projector so whatever game we were playing projected onto our Axe board. If you hit/landed on a box, (a letter, a number, a target, etc.), depending on the game your playing, then we used the computer mouse to click on that hit spot on the board. Ex: Tic Tac Toe - if you throw your axe and "stick it"/hit a square, you get that spot for your team (we used the computer mouse to click the square they landed in). Then the other team goes and the can either try to hit a new box/square or they can eliminate the other teams X or O by throwing the axe and hitting/sticking it in a box the other team previously got. Bullseye - you use the computer mouse to click on whatever number you got and there is a chart above your axe throwing playing board that keeps everyone's scores etc. They also have a key board so you can type everyone's names in the chart for score keeping. My friend chose this place to celebrate her husband and our dear friends birthday! It was such a GREAT and COOL idea for an adult birthday celebration. I LOVED that ya'll sold beer and seltzers!!!!!!! OKAYYYY Chill Axes - Axe Throwing ya'll are making Adult Night Out MUCH more enjoyable! It was a fun memorable night and I will one million percent be doing it again and taking my whole squad with me! See ya soon Chill...
Read moreLet me start with, "Yes, it was fun." But the initial entry phase needs work. It's a bit caustic. There's a poorly organized line at the cashier. The noise is akin to a Chucky Cheese on a Saturday when school is out. I could hardly hear my own voice. After waiting too long for the people in front of me to sign a waiver, I had to do the same. Then I was informed that they neither sell drinks (of any kind, including soft drinks) nor food. We were both hungry and thirsty. Evidently, you can bring your own beer, wine or even hard liquor, but IDK... you can also order takeout and have it delivered, but you are only there for a sort while, so no.
Then we are herded over to an unadorned stall and told how to throw axes. But the acoustics are so bad I could hardly hear the young person instructing us. I was told we would have one hour to throw and my initial thought was... maybe I stay 20 minutes.
But then I started to throw axes and it was a blast. The computer aided games worked very well and added a lot of interest. I will go back, but not without food and drink.
One last comment, they need a buffer zone between the steel bar stools and the public walk-way. Some place to actually sit down, and relax in a private setting. Similar to the seating area in bowling alleys. I realize they have spacial constraints, but when finances allow, expand five feet in width and add some seating.
Oh yeah, and fix the acoustics please! I suspect much of this will be addresses in just a few months. So watch for more current posts. This was from...
