On February 2nd, 2025, I went to Massage Crystal in Pasadena because I booked my teenage daughter a massage for her birthday. When we got there, the lady at the front asked if we had a reservation, and I said yes. She didnāt even bother to check but kept saying, āourā room was almost ready and told us to have a seat. We sat down and waited until the room was finally available. I then told her it was just my daughter going in, not both of us. She was like, āOhā¦how old is she?ā Before I could answer, she asked if my daughter was a minor, and I said yes. Thatās when she said I had to go in the room with her.
I didnāt want to do that for two reasons: 1) I didnāt want to spend the whole hour watching my daughter get a massage, and 2) Iāve booked massages for her before and never had to be in the room. I told the lady I could just wait in the lobby, but she insisted I had to go in. I guess she could tell I wasnāt feeling that idea, so she offered a double bed room instead, saying I could be comfortable while my daughter got her massage. I wouldāve preferred to stay in the lobby, but I said okay. She then said the room was āalmost available,ā but we ended up waiting another 15 minutes with no update. Thatās when I told her to just cancel the appointment and decided to go to another location.
I took my daughter to the Crofton location that my family usually goes to with no problems. This was actually the same place that let us wait in the lobby last year while my daughter got her massage alone. So, I figured it would be fine this time too, but I was wrong. When we got there, they asked if we had an appointment, and I said yes, my husband booked it. They couldnāt find us in the system at first but told us to have a seat. Then they called me back up and asked if it was a massage for two. I said no, it was just for my daughter. Thatās when they said Iād have to go in the room with her because of their āpolicy.ā
I told them it wasnāt an issue last year when they let my daughter go by herself while we waited in the lobby. Then, out of nowhere, the receptionist asked, āDid you just come from Pasadena?ā I said yes and explained that we left because they wanted me to sit in the room with her but took forever to get it ready. I came to this location because weāve never had issues here before. Even after all that, she still made me go in the room.
I ended up sitting in the most uncomfortable rolling chair with no back support ā the same kind the masseuse uses. By the time the massage was over, my neck and upper shoulders were so tense, and three weeks later, I still feel pain. Iām really disappointed because all I wanted was to give my daughter a relaxing birthday gift, but I left feeling miserable. Honestly, I wish I had just gone home.
To top it off, the apology Pasadena sent me was pathetic. They tried to explain why this āpolicyā is now a thing, but it didnāt make any sense. I honestly believe the whole policy thing was a lie because neither location could show me any proof. Plus, Crofton let us wait in the lobby just last year. I really think Pasadena was just trying to push me into getting a massage for myself that day too.
Itās clear that this place cares more about making extra money than about their customersā experience. I wonāt be going back. They really need to clarify and display their policies if they want to keep customers from being...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI found this location online and made an appointment over the phone. I was informed over the phone that if I paid in cash, I would receive a bonus card that I could have stamped after each service, and after the 10th, I could get a free massage. This was a red flag because most businesses that push for you to pay in cash either are trying to avoid credit card processing fees or hide money from the IRS by false reporting money they earn.
Anyway, the establishment was clean. But the rooms are small and they were hot and stuffy in there. The young lady who performed the massage on me didn't seem like she was properly trained. She massaged me for about 20 minutes through the sheets. Then, eventually, she made skin contact. I booked a full body massage for an hour. My upper back was tight, and she spent a lot of time trying to loosen up my muscles. So much time that I had to ask her to massage my legs. Being as though she hadn't even began to massage my lower extremities. Also, during the massage, she asked me twice to add additional services to my massage because my back was so tight. It reminded me of when you go to the nail shop and they keep trying to get you to add stuff to get more money out of you. This irritated me a little.
I was not relaxed during this massage and often found myself tensing up my hands. Then she bent my extremities to pop my bones. I never had this during a massage before; chiropractor visit, yes. When I left, my knee and fingers were slightly swollen. When I checked out, I noticed the establishment doesn't have their massage therapist license posted. By state law, they are supposed to.
Later on that day, I received a text message asking me to rate the service. I gave them a 5 out of 10. Then I received another text to explain why I gave them a 5, I opted out of the text messages.
Then, on Sunday, I received another text message from a different number that was associated with the establishment, asking for me to explain what happened during my appointment. At that point, I was even more annoyed with the establishment. I explained that I opted out of the text messages and that I felt like I was being harassed at that point. Like, why are you all texting people on a Sunday about a review???? They still didn't comprehend to stop texting me and sent another one. I will not be returning. This is not the spot for me. Book on your own accord.
Feb 20, 2024 In response to the establishments reply. Your therapist license's is not posted up front. I looked for them. The only thing you have posted is a copy of the business licenses. I have a license from the Maryland Cosmetology Board. Therefore, I know what to look for and know your establishment is in violation. Secondly, if you're having a lot of charge backs, you can simply file a claim for them. It also speaks volumes about your establishment if you're having so many...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually donāt take the time to give reviews unless the service is super bad or super good!! 1.) Customer Service was great from the time that I walked in the door. 2.) The masseuse was professional and just what Is needed to relax 3.) I got a full body massage and it was truly full body, unlike most places that just claim full body 4.) The price was roughly $.99 cent a minute and thatās standard pricing not over the top. 5.) Place was clean the sheets smelled clean and the bed was warmed. 6.) I paid for hot oil and stones it felt extremely soothing because I have been sore and a little stiff 7.) I paid for an hour and received my full hour, yes, I can be petty! I need my full 60 minutes! Just cause you left out to go get āstones and tingsā donāt mean I need to give up 3 or 4 minutes of my massage time!! My phone went off at 60 minutes but the masseuse kept going for about 5 or 6 more minutes. That was extremely fair! 8.) For some reason, when I have gotten massages from other places they do this thing where they beat on your back a little to show they are done, itās so annoying! Itās literally stupid. This masseuse was firm but very gentle and did not beat on me at all, instead gave me a long stroke down my body and said OK. 9.) The masseuse couldnāt speak English so didnāt try to have a conversation. Massaged me the entire time - no unwarranted conversation. Loved that because Iām there to relax and get rubbing not talk. When it was time to pay they told me how much and there was not any conversation about a tip or expectation for a certain amount and that is how it should be. Why am I expected to give a tip rather the service was good or bad, at other places? This masseuse indeed deserved the big tip I gave of over half the cost of the actual massage!
There you have it and those are the 10 reasons why this place along with the masseuse that serviced me earned a 10 and a star rating of 5 out of 5. I will start using this...
