I will say, the mac n cheese pizza from this place is SO good! However, the cleanliness of the staff is another story.
When you have an open kitchen, you would think they would be more aware of their sanitation habits. This is not the case. I understand that you don't HAVE to wear gloves when making pizzas since they are going in a 500 degree oven, but this should only be the case when you do not have to touch every other thing in the kitchen.
I was very disturbed to see the staff wash their hands, one time, during the duration of the 30 minutes we were waiting for our food. $60 mind you that became very unappetizing very quickly.
One of the girls washed her hands (dried hands some, then wiped her face, and then finished her hands) then crossed her arms and had her hands on both of her shirt sleeves (sleeves that have bathroom germs and whatever else on them) then immediately grabbed pizza dough, then a storage container with sauce, then cheese, then bacon, then into the oven. While the sauce was being put on, her hand and half of her forearm were RESTING ON THE PIZZA DOUGH. She also had fake nails on, which is a no no in food service. Aprons and shirts were used to constantly wipe hands as well in between grabbing food. Later on this girl was picking at her eye and then kept making food.
One of the guys answered the phone, took his hat off, ran his hands over his head, put his hat back on, and immediately grabbed a handful of cheese for a pizza. This is the same guys that SCRATCHED HIS ARM AND THEN CONTINUED MAKING FOOD.
Our sub came out of the pizza oven, the girl went into the cooler (grabbed the dirty handle) grabbed the container of lettuce (pretty positive this is the same lettuce they use for salad since it was only chopped romaine) stuck her hand in (glove/utensil free) grabbed a handful of lettuce and put it on our sub. I would like to think they use the same cheese used for pizzas are used for salads too. Food that IS NOT BEING COOKED IS BEING TOUCHED WITH DIRTY HANDS and cross contaminating like no other.
If you don't want to wear gloves, have your prep in order so you don't have to touch every piece of kitchen equipment/cooler doors. Or wash your hands more than ONCE. I managed a pizza brand before, my staff used gloves, washed hands, changed gloves often, and had zero issues.
I did speak to the owner about this and his response was "we actually don't have to wear gloves if it's going in the pizza oven." "But I'll talk to them about it." Whether they were spoken to, I'm not really sure. The fact that there was an excuse and little to no reaction about the staff TOUCHING AND SCRATCHING their bodies and continuing to make food, is disturbing. Hot oven or not, it's gross and...
Read moreWhat I ordered: Meat Magnifico pizza added extra cheese and mushrooms. Order arrived to my office in a reasonable time and food was still at a good temperature. The dough has an awesome taste to it and it was cooked perfectly with no burn areas. Now lets talk about toppings. I was able to taste every single ingredient on this pie. The bacon was very flavorful and the spice from the Italian sausage and pepperoni set the tone for the other ingredients. Every topping appeared to be fresh and had wonderful flavor. The cheese also had a good flavor is only wish there were a little more of it its just my opinion that a pie with extra cheese should have more but this is most likely protocol for the restaurant to only add so much or its already portioned out now stars taken away because it didn't take away from the flavor. Now for my favorite part of this pie. The sauce was so delicious. Hints of cinnamon and sweet tomato sauce with some herbs and spices added made every single bite worth it. It was a good filling pie but 30 for a pizza and a 20oz soda is a little much so I personally wont order form here that often but I will treat myself every once in a while and get another pie from Vocelli's. The price didn't take away from the flavor of the pizza so again no stars taken away. The owner seems so nice too. Giving out credits for bad experiences is a great business practice as it says "I m sorry we didnt meet your expectations please give us another chance to make it right and we will eat the cost to keep...
Read more🤩I absolutely love this location! Despite the Pasadena location being closer to us, we drive to this location because their customer service is top tier during the week and on the weekends.
I ordered pizza, wings and cinnamon rolls earlier this week. 🍕They were so good that We decided to get pizza and wings again this Friday(we still had cinnamon rolls left over).
Knowing that Fridays are busy days for pizza places, I expected the service and food to not be as good but I was wrong. I did have to wait a little while on hold when placing my order, but the staff was really friendly on the phone and when I arrived early to picked up my carryout order, it wasn’t ready but two minutes later they brought the pizza out to my car - Which was very nice and not required. 🥰
More than just one staff member is friendly and welcoming. Despite being visually busy they still remained polite and helpful. We will definitely continue to order from this location.
The Pasadena location could definitely learn from this location. I would write a review detailing my experience but when someone I know wrote one there was extreme retaliatory backlash to say the least… 😳
Anyway, Glen Burnie Vocelli’s for the win!!!...
