First let me start off by saying that my mother and I frequent little chinese take out places such as these. Usually, the service is relatively good and the food better. This time however, we were both incredibley disappointed. Our initial run in with the god awful woman behind the counter was a bust. She was an astonishingly rude individual. Not only that, with the open kitched you could see the unsanitary conditions they were working in... and even hear kids in the back! As a former manager at a restaraunt, I know this is NOT allowed in the work place. After ordering our food we waited... some people came in and picked up to go orders so, I figured this place HAS to be good.. right ? When our food came it looked less than appetizing. I ordered won ton soup, crab rangoon, and hunan chicken. My mom ordered the schezuan shrimp.. BOTH of us got double meat causing and up charge. Not a big deal at all, completely expected. So they shoved ALL of our food onto this plate. As my mom tried to dig in, it was falling on the table because it was so over stuffed. GREAT PORTION SIZES, however.. Im positive they werent hurting for two plates considering no one else was eating in... I let this slide. As soon as both of us took a bite we were incredibley disappointed... the food was definitely not fresh. The brocoli wasnt cooked AT ALL, the sauce was bland... these are supposed to be spicier dishes.. I would feel safe feeding it to my neices...... definitely not satisfied. The won ton soup looked really old... the won tons dried out and the crab rangoon.. well I didnt even want to touch them. Needless to say we quite literally took ONE bite of our meal... We discussed that we wanted to go somewhere else. Very sad we couldnt enjoy our tradition of eating chinese and there are no other places in the area. Walking up to the counter my mom politely told the woman that she'd like a refund and we only took one bite and weren't happy with the food. The woman proceeded to SCREAM at my mother. Shocked I stood up and began to take the food back to the counter, just so I could be closer to her. She said she could only refund half and that we didnt know what we were talking about. She proceeded to call the owner and yell into the phone about us while we were standing right there. My mother and I just gaped at her... was this REALLY happening ? My mother got on the phone with the owner and while trying to explain to him that this wasnt just some ploy to get our money back, HE proceeded to yell at her too. I couldn't watch any longer as I said, Ive run restaraunts... I took the phone from my mom and politely tried to talk to the man and get our money back. He yelled at me as well, even calling out the fact that I was an AMERICAN and I didnt know what I was talking about. There was no hope for refunding our 26 dollars.... I could see that. We tried to get the half back she promised us but she wouldnt give it to us now.. we were in complete dismay. Before things escalated, we turned and walked out. Not before she told us to call the cops. I don't know if the area is just used to these kind of people or treatment, but I literally am shocked at the positive reviews on this page.... leaving a very bad taste in my mouth for the Marysville area.. LITERALLY. We left hungry and out 26 dollars... I've never been so mistreated at a restaraunt... I can't fathom how they can still be open for business after seeing this place. We won't be returning and we will be letting people know of this horendous place. Everyone I meet, the police as she asked (and stole our money), and the health department as well. I suggest driving the extra 15 miles to Chinese place else where......
Read moreI need to share my recent experience at China wok. I wanted to get some chicken fried rice and wonton soup. These are like some of the most basic Chinese foods ever! I mean how do you mess up wonton soup and how can you mess up chicken fried rice? I havenât been to China wok in probably at least two years. While I didnât think it was the best Chinese food then, I didnât think it was terrible either. I have to tell you, it was the worst food I have had in a long time. The wonton soup tasted like it smells in the restaurant pure grease. That goes for the chicken base broth too! The fried rice was subpar and I had at least three bites out of maybe seven bites that had gristle. I would like to think it was just a bad day at the restaurant, because if this is how it is on a regular basis I donât know how they stay in business!! Oh and the lady that works the front I agree with everyone else, she is rude! But they donât care! I wonât ever go back and Iâll make sure I tell other people that the place sucks regardless of what some of these...
Read moreThere is only one dish they do a halfway decent job at making and that's General Tso's Chicken. All other dishes are disappointing. The Crab Rangoon for instance is simply crusted dough filled with cream cheese without any hint or evidence of crab flavor. The fried rice was terrible in taste and appearance. The rice was bleached light tan with hardly any seasoning and did not even resemble fried rice at all. I decided to try the Chicken Lo Mein and did not like it because they use all of the junk chicken dark meat parts in it and there is no white meat. I recently tried the Szechuan Pork and they did not bother to cut the fat off the pork pieces which I had to spit out in a napkin because there were gobs of fat. There were large pieces of undigestible celery ends that tasted like straw. Pork Lo Mein was very greasy. It seems like if you want good food that is flavorful and seasoned, you have to drive to...
