I have been to Volli several times since they opened in Marysville because pickleball has quickly become one of mine and my friend’s favorite things to do!
Most recently, my friends and I went in on a Sunday evening for a double date night. We booked same day, and were able to find a 1 hour time slot at 9pm that worked for us. There were no other times available for reservations online when we booked, which was interesting since there was an additional court open in the pickleball area that wasn’t listed.
When we arrived for our reservation, no one was at the front and the kitchen staff seemed “checked out” for the night. This was evident through the loud joking and talking and general lack of awareness that there were a handful of guests at the front.
When the host came upfront, she brought a plate of fries and ketchup for herself to enjoy, and she did not seem amused that we were all standing there messing around because…what else do you do to kill time while you are waiting to be helped??
While on the court, we had to flag down a server, which was very different from when they first opened and appeared more interested in making food and beverage sales.
We ended up flagging down a server, who was very kind and helpful. Unfortunately, she had to tell us that the kitchen was down to one frier, which is all they had to cook food with, and the original beverages that we wanted were unable to be made due to lack of ingredients.
Our server graciously got the kitchen staff to make the fried zucchini that I had told her that I had been craving for the past couple of weeks. That, honestly, made my night, even though she then had to tell us that last call had come and gone before we were informed about it.
Overall, this experience was not the greatest, although I have had great experiences at Volli. I am not sure what was going on that night, but my hope is that standards return to where they were when they first opened because this experience was not something I would care...
Read moreIt's okay - will be back as there's not much else to this level in Marysville, but there's some work that needs to be done to get out of the growing pains of a new company. Overall, it's a great place but can't afford to be going regularly at the prices they currently have.
Pros: Atmosphere is awesome: new, clean, tidy. TONS of space. Bigger than any bar! Drinks and prices are good.
Cons: Confused service, we had a couple tabs brought to us that were incorrect, thankfully we went on a Sunday where we had time to identify what was wrong and work it out with the server and weren't rushed to get it right. Rental prices are somewhat crazy. Weekend rental for a court was $55, $+5/paddle and +3 for ball. I understand it's a new facility and growing, but it appears they are pricing out people.
Judging by the empty courts and amount of tours, I think the prices need to adjust a little (darts also cost money which was a big draw for us but ended up being something we didn't want to pay again for), Marysville isn't really the population to be spending $100-$150/outing, and after our reservation the courts (4 of them) sat empty for an hour. We would have played again if offered some sort of discount rate or additional time to rent, say, another $20 or so. Our food tab was somewhere near $60, food is average about $15/plate and drinks are under $13.
Definitely loved the place but use a Groupon to rent so you can enjoy yourself instead of worrying about time constraints during court rental and the...
Read moreWandered in as I had been passing the place for about a year, and the heat and the hunger forced my hand! Upon entering, I stood at the front desk for which seemed a long time but in hindsight it was probably 5 minutes! A flustered (she looked like she'd been playing pickle ball!) older lady appeared and asked me where I wanted to sit? There were maybe 10 people in the whole restaurant and around forty tables so it was pretty empty so I pretty much could sit anywhere! After finding a quiet spot, she told me my server would be with me in a minute to take my drink order, and this is when it started a steep decline! 13 minutes later (remember it's mostly empty!) my server arrives to take my drink order! After ordering I wait...and wait... 26 minutes after ordering my drink arrives (from one of the cooks?) and I ask him if I can place food order? he is already moving back toward the kitchen and yells your server will be just a minute! 10 minutes later, a different server arrives to take my order (I'm clock watching now as I have to pick up my daughter soon!) then goes back to the kitchen! 10...20...30...40 more minutes pass before my food finally arrives, at least it's hot!
The food wasn't too bad, but the service was terrible! This has to improve Volli, you have many well established competitors that do better than you, and if you don't improve I can see your doors closing by the end of the year, I...
