First off, I'm not one to just hand out five stars. That would be near perfection in all standards, and having eaten in a lot of places, I feel a five star from myself would mean more. I don't normally post on this review,, but my phone asked if i would like to on its own and I felt it was good enough ro leave a review, as well as to why it would score mifdle of the ballpark.
So by default this would be a 4. The food was excellent, the choice of having seating outside is always nice especially on days like today. Menu had plenty of choices, enough I had trouble with what I wanted. Normally 1 or 2 things jump out and I split the decision from there.
The price matches the quality of food. I am sadly disappointed I did not get the lamb after having tasted everyone else's food and my own. I'm sure it wod have been excellent as well.
The service wasn't top notch, but very well done considering the area we ate in.
Wait time was expected, and a little of the extra time was my fault of indecision and choice making.
The only reason it did not maintain 4 stars is the chair I had ro sit in outside. Really a,whole star for that? Yes here is why. It was a cheap plastic/wicker chair. Ut was uncomfortable and felt flimsy before I even put weight on it. Secondly it would fit anyone who was say 220 to 240, and that is max capacity. Size and weight.
I'm a fairly large guy who used to wrestle/play football/weight lift and have a 6'5 free on top of that. Now you add age and with that comes the dreaded extra weight. At my skinniest where I had ribs showing, I still weighed 240, and that, was before getting jacked, then weight gain.
It was not comfortable. It even made me change my order because od the way I had to sit in the chair to even remotely fit and be a little comfortable, meant I had to change my order to something I could hold. My long legs and way I was sitting was pushing me back from the table and there was no way I could eat at it.
So comfort, and changing my ability to eat at the table as well as changing my order, immediately knocked the star off.
Had this been a run id the mill place to eat, it probably would have gotten 2. A&G's everything else made up for it.
That, and the normal clientele of this establishment and area are 5'9, maybe 190 males, and smaller women. So it's not like they see a lot of people my size here to cater to.
I had the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich, which came with mozzarella, house marinara, and pesto. Very good. The bun was very nicely done along with sweet potato wedges with their spiced sugar on them. I love sweet potato fries/wedges, thought I'd give it a try. Not my thing, but still was pleasant...
Read moreServers were ok but the food and upper staff were downright awful. Me and my girlfriend traveled from St Joe on business and decided to stop in this nice seeming restaurant for a quick bite to eat or so we thought. We were charged upwards of 38 dollars for two meals and one drink. Mind you the drink was a lemonade which came tasting like that of something from a foreign land. Ive never tasted any lemonade that came close and was also incredibly sweet which sadly didn't mask the flavor. (As if they had run it through a carbonation machine that needed servicing long ago). Then upon trying the Onion strings (not a typo) the onions themselves were devoid in flavor as with the breading (same goes for the breading on the sandwich.) No salt no pepper or other discernable spices of any kind. Then what took the cake was my food coming to the table raw. I ordered a pork sandwich and upon arriving at the table the pork was still slimy and pink toward the center in the thickest part not by much but by enough. For reference my mother and father were both chefs and met in a kitchen I myself cook and come from a long Sicilian lineage. As someone who takes pride in food this was the most disappointing meal I've sat down for period. No other restaurant even that of the olive garden has disappointed me like this. As for the cherry on top the owner?? Head chef? (Not sure didn't even introduce himself or acknowledge me the entire time) came to the table with the obviously undercooked food and had the nerve to say it was and i quote "perfect white meat." Then followed that statement with "were making you another one right now." Mind you I could understand the offense if I'd been rude or if the food was already cooked thoroughly but none of that was true. As someone who's worked in kitchens and the food industry for a long time this is absolutely unacceptable behavior. This rude defensive energy has no place at my family's dinner table if we cannot even eat in peace don't expect us to return. I simply swallowed my pride and told the clearly delusional man(seemed elderly genuinely possible he couldn't see the discoloring) I was mistaken and have learned a valuable lesson that A&G restaurant is the LAST place to search for QUALITY service or GOOD food. As they clearly do not value the opinions and experiences of their patrons. Make no mistake I will not be quiet and I will not be returning. Not even if it was the only restaurant...
Read moreMakayla was our waitress today and she was astonishing. She knew the menu, what we asked for, we got. She enjoys her job and appreciates how she is treated by management and owners of this astablushment. She had wonderful time management because we were able to get to know a little about her and she was able to know a little about us three Ashley, Rosa, and Sam.( From Rock Port, Mo. Our food was amazing and Dustin (pizza cook) made my pizza 9 out of 10. I special ordered a old style Greek pizza and he nailed it. Zac (cook) our appetizers and main plates were cooked perfect. Presentation of all the food was picture perfect. Maryville is where my father and mother lived as young adults and this trip meant a lot to me as I was able to learn a lot about where they loved and started a family. Jackie Ball my favorite (joined us tonight from heaven) really enjoyed your restaurant back in day. Sam (Jackie's daughter) and my mom enjoyed and laughed telling stories to me about times they remember with her in your restaurant. George and your family were spoke of and I enjoyed learning about the history. Please know we really appreciate the wonderful food and the great service Mackenzie provided my family and I tonight. She's a great asset and knew the menu very well. Every question we asked she knew and not a dirty plate sat on our table, our drinks never below .5, and her face expressed her happiness while at work. God bless and thank...
