Keeping Laura's on my Cape Cod Bookmark list. The bakery items alone are worthy of a visit. The initial entry smell is baked vanilla so prominent, that it rests it's tiny head on your taste buds. With a friendly greeting, and menu, we were welcomed with a plate of the current bakery sample. Lemon blueberry bread. The texture was cake-like and warm to boot. So glad I had already ordered hot coffee to meld with this delight. It must have been obvious that it was our first visit. When she returned to take our order, we were still moaning over the bread. I had the Jag, which is rice, beans, onion, kielbasa type sausage with eggs and bread. The idea that they are trying to do something different is applause worthy. I found it to have that rice 'sat to long' and slightly glutenous taste. The blueberry pancakes were plate size huge, moist and scrumptious. It was a bit queery that we sat at the counter, and had the hardest time getting a coffee refill. It feels rude to loudly say "EXCUSE ME". Breakfast was pretty prompt for the rotating crowd flow. It's not a big place. Beverages are water based, milk, juice or bottled coke products from the cooler. Pretty clean restaurant space. The servers are quick with a cleaning towel to avoid the hassle of guests sitting at dirty tables.
I am writing this to remind myself that next visit... Take advantage of the mad baking skills by getting the Quiche of the day. Remember to bring a good hot sauce. Theirs was the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe should have known a place this popular (and small probably only seats up to 25) would have a wait on Sunday morning for breakfast! On the cusp of hunger and deciding to go somewhere else we asked for a take out menu to get some breakfast to eat quickly since they said there would be a 40 minute wait for a table for 4.
The waitresses who took our orders were very considerate as we waited, and it just so happened that after only 20 minutes one of the tables finished early so they let us stay and eat our food that was just ready. Perfect! As I thought we might be eating sitting outside or standing up I just got a breakfast sandwich with sausage on a bagel. I was very surprised to see that it also came with a huge portion of delicious home fries. The sandwich was so juicy and buttery it melted instantly in my mouth. I also got a cinnamon roll on the side, which was only a little strange tasting but that might have been the sugar (tasted weirdly of chemicals). My friends ordered a huge stack of pancakes and Eggs Benedict with home fries, which of course were also tasty!
Can't wait to come back to this place the next time we are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was outstanding ! However, Iām writing this review while I sit and wonder why my young server cannot give attention to her one customer who came in between 12:30 and 1:00 pm on a quiet Monday in late October. When my coffee cup was running low, my young server had her nose deep into her book. The other server was getting the job done for her one customer so I imposed on her for a second cup. My original server came with the pot of fresh coffee. Since then, I finished my meal and Iām waiting for a container to take my leftovers home. My server? I think sheās busy on her phone now. Am I expected to call her over? The ātip meterā is ticking down. Young generation needs to realize that they donāt get rewarded for playing with a phone or reading books instead of being attentive and proficient on the job. Tip of 10% was given as a result of subpar service. Good food, probably good service on a weekend. I look cheap to her, Iām certain. She...
