After wanting to try Warped Wing for some time, I'm completely underwhelmed. Came in around 5:30 on a Tuesday (06/14/22 to be exact) Service was fantastic. Waitress was incredibly busy, but very attentive to us in spite of the amount of tables she was working. Looked like there was only two servers in the restaurant at the time, and tables filled up fast once we were there. Took our drink order, started with two beers, even brought out two samples for my wife since she was undecided on the two beers. That's exemplary service to not serve something someone may not like. Brought our beers, took appetizer order, brought refills & took dinner order. She was fantastic & was busting her tail.
Unfortunately, that's all the positive I can say. Tater kegs completely overpriced at $11. Dry, overcooked, double sized tater tots. Hardly worth $6, let alone $11. Ranch dip served with them was water and flavorless. Ordered a buckeye mule while we waited. Mug was not copper, but copper plated aluminum on the exterior only. You can't spring for the real thing for the prices? Mule was the most anemic mule I've ever had, & I seriously doubt any vodka was even in it. Ginger beer was good, but if I wanted ginger beer with a ton of ice and a rosemary spring, that's what I would have ordered., not a mule.
Dinner meals arrived, wife had the burger with Mac & cheese, I had the salmon wrap with the jalapeño cheddar grits. Burger states its served medium well, came out well, no big deal as she likes them to be done. No condiments, just lettuce, tomato, & onion. No ketchup or mayo brought with it. Waitress brought it for us, after a few minutes were given to check in on us, but they should have come out with the runner, just in case we wanted it. Salmon wrap was OK. Mainly lettuce, a few flakes of smoked salmon, and the most watery caper sauce ever. Mac & cheese was okay, but nothing to write home about. Cheddar jalapeño grits were good, only food item worth it's cost. Watery sauces are a sign of either cut corners, or poorly trained cooks.
I wanted to try their version of the old fashioned, but after the $8 mule, I didn't want to try a $10 old-fashioned, that more then likely would have been messed up ("how do you screw up an old-fashioned?", I didn't want to find out)
Decor & atmosphere completely disjointed. You're a Dayton brewery called Warped Wing, with aviation & Dayton neighborhood themed beers. Why don't you have aviation themed decor???? Completely missed the mark on that.
As stated at the beginning, service was great, but it didn't make up for all the other misses. Might give it a try if I hear improvements have been made, but as it stands, we won't be back. Which is a shame, because good service is really...
Read moreThe food was good when a relative and I came here on a Sunday. The drinks were decent too, but nothing extraordinary.
We stayed here for about 4-5 hours; however, about halfway through our time into it, we were asked to check-out and pay even when we were not done. I guess our servers were changing shifts, so we needed to check-out, then check out again once we were completely done later? That made no sense to us. I've been to restaurants and breweries hundreds of times in my life and was never asked to check-out more than once per visit.
Additionally, It seemed like the next shift of servers didn't know about that our server or something, so we had to walk up and get their attention after not being checked on for quite a while. We did get a free beer from our first server, which we appreciate; however, our second server didn't seem too interested in us.
They also display ads for certain beers in their bathroom, but when asking the server about them, they said they did not have any. Okay, then why advertise them right in front of the men's urinals?
I'd recommend going to a different brewery or restaurant. Their system and workflow seems out of whack and confusing when it shouldn't be. Combining that with ads for their beer (that they themselves advertise right in front of their urinals in the men's bathroom) which they don't have there is a frustrating experience. You can get a much better experience spending over $100 for two people at many other restaurants/breweries...
Read moreFirst-time visitor, went to the Mason location. Got seated, waitress took our order for drinks (Gamma Bomb & a glass of red wine) and appetizer (pulled-pork nachos). The server/runner brought out our nachos in about 5 minutes. When I said to her that we ordered a beer & a glass of wine also, she told me I would have to order that at the bar. ??????
So.....I go to the bar, explain what just happened and ask if it is the normal procedure here, i.e. ordering food from waitstaff and separately ordering drinks at the bar. The barkeeper looked as confused as I felt. He gave us our drinks and I went back to our table. At this point, I am still holding out hope.
Our food arrived shortly after. In all honesty, the fries were literally some of the BEST fries I have ever had. Perfection.
Also, the manager (I'm assuming) came over and apologized for the drink mix-up and said he would comp our drinks. Unexpected, but very nice. OK, now I'm feeling pretty good about our visit.
So to recap - the nachos were fine; nothing to write home about. We got our drinks comp'd. The fries were OUTSTANDING.
But the meats in both our sandwiches - a smoked roast beef and a pulled pork - were VERY dry and nearly devoid of any meat-like flavor. And that's the reason we won't return. Just. Not. Good.
If y'all could somehow bring your sandwiches up to the level of your fries, you could really...
