Don Sol Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Mattoon

Horrible experience. My first and last time eating Don Sol. I ordered two tacos, steak and chicken from their food truck. I asked for everything, but no cilantro on the tacos. I even repeated it again to her. They lady wrote everything down and told me my amount. It sounded like she said $5 from the food truck, it was very noisy so I was unsure, however she did not say $5. I looked at the ipad and it said $9. No big deal, I just wanted to confirm that was correct. Before I knew it she dropped someone's order on me. I had food all over me and I had to go to work. All the lady could say was sorry and offer me napkins. I was HIGHLY UPSET. On top of that my order was wrong and had cilantro all over it. The food was not even good, especially the chicken taco. I would not recommend this place. Especially the LOUSY customer service. I was still charged and not compensated anything. That sums...

Had a terrific meal at Don Sol. It was recommend by the desk clerk at the hotel. The service was very quick and friendly. Chips and Salsa came quickly. The tortilla chips were very crispy and fresh. The salsa was delicious and also tasted fresh made. I had a skillet dinner with shrimp and smoked sausage. It had seasoned rice, red, green and yellow pepper strips and sauteed onions. I requested it without the hot peppers. The flavors worked very well together. The dish was like a Mexican Jambalaya. I would definitely order it again. Nice size portion, I had the leftovers for breakfast the next day. My draft Modelo was served in a frozen mug and was the perfect pair...

Pros: They probably have the largest dining room in town so you can always get a seat their quickly. It's our go to place whenever we need a place to eat with a large party and don't want to wait an hour for seats. Their food is generally great and they have some items not available at other Mexican restaurants in town (like Tacos Del Pastor) It has a great atmosphere and competent waitstaff.

Cons: It's a bit pricier than other Mexican restaurants in town with comparable food. On a few occasions the salsa and beans have been really spicy. This wasn't a problem for me (I like really spicy food) but some of the people in our group...
