El Vaquero — Restaurant in Mattoon

Pretty frustrated… took three different people to take 2 of the EXACT same order. The very simple order (Taco Locos -steak- flour tortillas - side of rice and beans) had to be explained six times to finally have the order repeated back correctly. Sent hubby to pick the order up and it was completely wrong, waited for the order to be corrected to receive yet another wrong order then was argued with about what was ordered when trying to get the correct order a third time. . Hubby finally got the order and left paying for the order thinking third times a charm but had actually only received half of it. When hubby came and explained i attempted to call to receive a corrected order and was told that the order was correct and was hung up on. Had an awesome "date-night" here with the wife! Drinks on special were some tasty margaritas. We each ordered a special pollo el rey for me and she had a giant (no lie) steak burrito. She got 2 meals from it! I wasn't willing to leave mine for later, but I probably should've.

The service was very good, but bland. No real flare, just efficient and abbreviated. Not bad, but kinda blah.

Definitely be back again. Seems like everyone is chasing the latest at other places, but this Mattoon classic is just as good as...

Go to tacos amigos better food more for your money they shorted me on my family chicken on the beach and the guy told me that's how much I'm supposed to get so I basically paid 50$ for this meal and we didn't get our salsa with our chips and you can see the bottom of the pan with the chicken and rice being shorted and we literally didn't have no left overs El Vaquero sucks I used to go here 4 time a month but after this last time I will not be returning to this...
