Heard about this place from a friend who loves it. Personally it wasn't for me and I'm giving it three stars mainly because the service was so good. This reminds me of a Ryan's buffet from before Ryan's closed down.. but not up to that standard. For 14.00 including a drink I got the week night buffet (only option) and got a booth. The interior is somewhat ran down and although clean looking it was sticky (booth/table). They give you a plastic food glove to wear while using the buffet.. Which is great I thought.. except several people weren't using them so what's the point. I started with the salad bar.. There was some warm iceberg and spinach as well as your usual toppings including bacos bits.. Those hard imitation bacon bits. It was a decent salad bar. Pasta and potato salad as well. The main meat hot bar had fried chicken, country fried steak and gravy as well as chicken livers, baked chicken and a couple of other options. The chicken was pretty good reminding me of cafeteria fried chicken (which is delicious). The 'real' mashed potatoes were cold and dried out/it was nearly impossible to scoop them out but the small amount that dropped off the crusted up serving spoon tasted good. Country fried steak was to me like prebreaded out of a freezer bag deep fried a bit too long. It wasn't bad but wasn't great. Gravy again was room temp and hard to spoon out of the caked up spoon. Vegetables were tasty but cooked to death and mushy. The fried green tomatoes were soaked with oil and soggy. Major issue was that most items werent hot or even warm. Desserts were also disappointing. The banana pudding is bright artifical yellow.. Im not sure where that color comes from. The one thing I did take note of was how good the service was.. Not just at our table but all the servers were very friendly, helpful, accomodating and smiling. Drinks stayed full and the cashier at the front was very nice. I'm not sure if there is any other buffets left except this one but unfortunately for me the food didn't hit the mark. The place needs some freshening up and maybe less food options so quality vs quantity wins. Major helper would be ensuring the food especially meats stay piping hot and buffet serving utensils are changed out after not being used so food...
Read moreToday was the last straw. To the wait staff we have come to know and enjoy over the last 10-12 years, I hope to see you elsewhere! Today, when I bring to the ‘managers’ attention that the new cashier didn’t give us a senior discount after we both asked for it, she proceeded to lecture me that I had to ask for it and they didn’t have to give it to any one, it’s not mandatory. This was after I said two times, we did ask for it and it was overlooked when ringing us up. Then she says ‘when I come back next time’ to ‘be sure to ask because they don’t have it give to anyone. They gave us an ‘unitemized’ receipt so it wasn’t readily apparent we didn’t get it at check out. After pursuing the issue, I was eventually told to ‘go get my card and they would give my ‘dollar’ back. So sorry your shaming effort’s didn’t work and it’s not about a dollar or 10 dollars. You know you had a new cashier and there was confusion. Why not just be gracious and refund the money? Instead the manager chose to lecture and attempt to be insulting. When I stopped to tell our favorite waitress why we wouldn’t be back, the gray haired ‘manager’ walked over and attempted to intimidate me and the waitress. Yes, I saw the stare you gave her when you announced to me she wasn’t a manager. That may be true but she is a kind decent woman who cares about her customers. Maybe you could learn a thing about or two from her. So to all the Seniors who go there….be sure to ask for your senior discount and ask for an itemized receipt so you can double check them. I read through their lowest reviews before deciding to follow through with mine. There seems to be a common condescending tone in them much like I encountered today. The ‘manager’ seem to like to drop titles such as owner and manager to see if it will intimidate you. And be sure to ask for a ‘to go’ cup so you can really see their...
Read moreThis review is well overdue. Green tomato has fell off so bad that it’s sad. They’re now charging as much as Golden Corral but they are not serving no where near Golden Corral food. Green tomato has no variety, the rice is undercooked and the baked chicken is also. Today is my last day ever coming back to this dump. Due to COVID I understand their policy but how one of their staff tried to handle me, was very rude. I left my mask at the table on a accident and when she seen me without it on she says, “where’s your mask? You have to have a mask on to be up here.” I told her it was at my table and I forgot to put it on. No big deal, right? She peruses to grab my plate and say let me help you to your table. Let me mind you I am not handicapped in no shape or form and all I had was the one plate. She then repeats when she sets my plate on the table ”you have to wear a mask when you’re at the bar.” I totally understand that and if she would’ve just said hey I’m sorry but you have to have on a mask and just wear one next time you come back up then cool but she shouldn’t have touched my plate nor should she have tried to make a big deal out of a simple mistake. I tried to hang in their with them but this was the last straw. I also found a hair in baked chicken that was actually baked into the chicken and I showed the waiter. She just took it away and didn’t really say much. The Mac and cheese is undercooked and it smells funky. They literally only have a few meats to pick from. They barley have waiters and the ones they do have look like they’re barley holding on. I won’t be back and I know a lot of people that feel the same way. Hopefully they don’t close their doors soon because it’s looking really sad for...
