I love Indian food. My favorite dish is chicken vindaloo. Now flavor was really good, but I have never eaten chicken vindaloo where I didnt know if the next bite would have been chicken or chicken bone. Every vindaloo dish I have never had to dig for my chicken and play a guessing game on what I am eating. It was 16 dollars for a chicken leg a two tiny pieces of chicken and the rest was chicken bone and gristle. I didn't even finish the sauce eventhough it tasted really good. I cried on the inside, but really was not willing to entertain the idea of a hospital visit with a bone stuck in my throat.
My partner had the goat vindaloo and did not have the same issue. I guess don't eat chicken here. In fact go somewhere else spend 2 dollars more and get twice the food if you are wanting a chicken based indian dish. There are better options, better prices, and better portions out there not even in far driving distances.
Now the rice and nann not bad. My final take: I will not complain if others want to go and will have try a different option, but also I will not be going out of my way to eat there or...
Read moreI visited Hocco Indian Restaurant in Greenville, South Carolina for dinner with my family. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and had a warm, inviting atmosphere. After living here for many years, I had never found truly authentic Indian food in the U.S. — but Hocco finally brought that taste of India to Greenville!
We ordered Paneer Tikka Masala, Saagwala, butter naan, and basmati rice. The Paneer Tikka Masala was the highlight of the meal — rich, flavorful, and spiced just right with authentic Indian flavors. Both curries were fresh, delicious, and satisfying. The portions were generous, and we had plenty of leftovers to take home.
The service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations while keeping our water glasses filled.
Soft Indian music played in the background, creating a relaxed atmosphere that was perfect for conversation. Prices were reasonable, especially compared to other Indian restaurants in the area.
I highly recommend Hocco Indian Restaurant to anyone craving authentic Indian food. I’ll...
Read moreWent to this Indian restaurant Hocco. Was pretty excited at first when I saw the choices in the menu. However once I got the food, I was really disappointed.
Ordered 3 dishes and each around $16 each which comes with choice of Roti/Rice. I ordered Naan which was $2 more. However, the Naan is not the one they make in the clay oven. Just some thick roti that they pan fry to warm it up. I ordered butter chicken, desi chicken and chicken vindaloo. Butter chicken has no flavor, no butter just tomato sauce with loose gravy. Not even close to the picture they posted on the menu. Both desi chicken and chicken vindaloo had excessive spices. It was like I was eating raw cinnamon. Small portion size, just small cup of rice and small size of the thick roti which they claim as Naan. Paid around $70 for 3 (including tip) Despite being hungry the 3 of us couldn't finish the tasteless food. Came back home and ate the leftover goat biryani that my wife had made...
