Visited and ordered. The place is nice, the staff is attentive. We ordered two breakfast, an omelette and an oatmeal. My wife ordered a Mimosa and I ordered a Latte. Mimosa arrived, looked impressive, wife loved it. Everything was great until… my coffee never arrived. But here is the reason, employees just found out that all breakfast orders where backlog and they were figuring everything out. We saw some arguments from other people. Our server approached us and told us that our orders would take an hour because they had an order that just showed up with 17 breakfast orders. That is not all, there were people waiting at the tables, and others just walked away and left. To the management, this is unacceptable and unprofessional. I do not have all the details, but if a call comes in and someone orders 17 breakfast take them, but do not take the order and the expense of those visiting you. I saw at least four parties walk away after the news. Another thing, it was a Sunday, at 10:20am. The establishment opens lunch at 11am. I asked if the lunch would be available and they shared that lunch will be available after all breakfast orders would be in. Should lunch food be available already? I asked what was the soup of the day and they couldn’t tell. This is a reflection of poor leadership.
Establishment looks nice, menu looked great. We travel over two hours to visit from San Juan to encounter this. I hope the fix their process and their leadership.
One star for food—was not available. Two stars for service—mainly for the leadership and manager. The employees in the front deserved 5 stars because they too were blindsided. They apologies and asked us to give it a chance, which we will. Four stars for Atmosphere—because it had good vibes.
We will give a try again, and it will be the final one and hopefully the coffee...
Read moreSolid experience at Casa Abu! Found this spot through TikTok and decided to give it a chance since we were looking for a nice dinner spot not too far from our Airbnb in Cabo Rojo. It wasn’t busy at all around 7pm on a Thursday so we were seated quickly. It started to get busier after 8:30pm. The decor was very nice, clean, and modern. They also have a patio with seating but we stood inside. Our waiter was welcoming and attentive. The wait was a bit long but it was fine. For drinks I forgot to take a photo and don’t remember what they were exactly but I had a spritz type. Drinks were great! Our entree was the Rellenitos De Pana. Sooo good!! I’m obsessed with the sauce. For the entree we followed other reviewers and were not let down with the Arroz Campesino. It took me back to my family home cooked meals! Extremely flavorful and had to force myself to stop eating. We also tried the Churrasco Mofongo. It was also good but had too much salt. We preferred the other entree. The portions were big! Keep that in mind. I had a good time overall and would...
Read moreGreat greeting. Beautiful space, big and clean bathrooms, the location is superb. That’s it. They didn’t write down the drink order so made my drink wrong-it was only 2 drinks. I ask if they had anything in the menu without meat and they reply that they had no vegetables, even though they have a mofongo with vegetables on the menu and they didn’t had the ingredients to make a salad even though they had a salad on the menu. They took the appetizer order and 20 minutes later came to the table to tell us that they didn’t have the item we ordered casava fritters with cheese. We ordered a fish fillet with butter garlic sauce and manposteao rice and the campesino rice with tostones. The tostones were great. The campesino rice is described as a rice with churrasco, longaniza and several other meats it was almost all rice and slivers of a few meats, maybe 1 small shread of churrasco. The fish overcook and dry, no sauce. The mamposteao was dry, like yesterday’s rice. I wanted to like it but I would not go back and would not...
