Caproni’s Restaurant is a gem in this small town of Kentucky. It sits on the water and train tracks. Highky recommend. #discoversetx #lorigoats #kentucky #foodies

***7.28.2021 Update*** Visited today and arrived at 3:00PM. I hostess greeted us outside the front door to tell us that they were closed due to an issue in the kitchen. Since we had driven so far I gave them our number and asked that they call us when they were open and that we would sightsee until then. The hostess said the owner had called someone and they would let us know in about 15-20 minutes. After two hours had passed, we were getting hungry and having not received our promised phone call decided to call them. A different hostess than the one we had spoken to earlier answered and stated that the doors were open, but didn't know if the friers? were on. Knowing that there would be a limited menu and due to the lack of customer service (not calling to say they were open) we opted to try someplace else. Great local non-chain restaurant. I've ate here many times over the years and if I'm in town I always bring my work companions here. It's known for being a classier restaurant, but I've never seen them enforce a dress code. The food is excellent and the service is on par with higher priced establishments.

First time eating here. Got there about 45 minutes early to our reservation but were seated without issue. I ordered a beer and the wife ordered a cocktail. I was brought the wrong beer but didn't complain or send it back as it was something I would drink anyway.

Wife ordered a shrimp cocktail which was good but a bit dry. The salad was very good (croutons were amazing) and was accompanied by fresh bread.

I ordered steak (it was undercooked but still very good) and the wife ordered pasta and chicken. The wife said she'd order something else next time. We also requested some condiments which were forgotten by the staff. A second request was made and the condiments were brought with an apology by the staff.

For dessert, we share cheesecake. The portion was perfect for two people and the treat was very good.

Total bill was $113 for 4 drinks, 2 entrées, an appetizer and dessert.

It appears dinner patrons really start filling the place around 6:30. There were only 2 servers but they worked the rooms well and helped each other.

There was a mix of patrons birth young and old. Outfits ranged from jeans and t-shirts, dresses, and business casual.

The atmosphere here really wows. If course the river view is fantastic but the interior soars warm and relaxing.

We plan on returning and trying some different foods and would not hesitate recommending this place to anyone in the area. Although mistakes were made by the staff, it wasn't something that really distracted from the experience and we tipped as if no mistakes were made. After all, anyone can have an off day!

Give this place a try. We'll update after...

Decent food, great wait staff. Overpriced, but amazing views.

8 years later.I was so looking forward to the calamari. They were the size of Cheerios and zero meat (after our waitress took almost 15 minutes to even greet us.) After I saw what they were passing off as calamari, I made the very correct decision to order nothing else. Wasting money on cafeteria rolls, limp bagged salad that looked like it should have been thrown away last week, my husband’s spaghetti looked like complete mush, and it was. The Alfredo my son ordered tasted like water, my oldest son’s looked like the only edible thing on the table. HUGE waste of money and time and gas. I had put in the notes on the reservation that we were celebrating my son’s bday and my other son’s graduation. Had ZERO acknowledgment from wait staff regarding either. The waitress did take the calamari off, but that doesn’t fix the $74 ginormous waste of money. People seem to ignore the fact that the quality of food has gone so far down while the prices climb. I am glad I didn’t add to the bill by ordering. Will NOT be coming back. Terrible. Another restaurant that people will literally not see how bad it’s become because they don’t really care. People will eat anything and say it’s good because they are...

The entrees, appetizers, and desserts that I have tried have all been very good, and we have never had a bad meal (and I am picky). The service has always been excellent, and two standouts are as follows: 1. my husband having a lengthy conversation with the server about gluten free pasta options and then the chef make him something special off-menu and 2. walking in accidentally 15 minutes prior to closing and not only being served, but being welcomed and served with a smile. We were impressed! The ambiance is lovely and hits just the right note., with the river view, the passing trains, the riverbank on the Ohio side of the water to look at. The only reason I am not giving Caproni's a solid 5 stars is the salad. The days of iceberg lettuce have long since passed, and I have had several salads that were over-the-hill and too "wet". A lovely bright green salad with raddiocho, spring greens, spinach, kale--some power greens with a splash of bright color with some homemade dressings ON THE SIDE --would really make Caproni's the perfect place to dine. But, since I am more a "meat and potatoes" diner anyway, the lackluster salad is certainly no reason to keep me away. Caproni's is truly excellent and the most enjoyable option for dining out...
