Penn Station East Coast Subs — Restaurant in Maysville

My husband and I come down to Maysville from Cincinnati every July for our anniversary. During our visit last year, both the service and food was exceptional, so we had high hopes for a repeat experience. However, that would not be the case. On our last night in Maysville (Sunday July 24) we decided on Penn because we wanted to be able to take our meal back to the hotel to eat. (About 6:30pm) Upon arriving I informed our cashier, Rico, that I have a mushroom allergy and could he please relay that information to the rest of the team to avoid any cross contamination. He kindly did so, but the female working immediately became annoyed and began slamming things and mumbling under her breath as she made a performance of cleaning the grill. The disdain and resentment for the added effort and inconvenience required to safely prepare my meal was quite evident as she continued with her extremely unprofessional behavior. Her annoyance was also quite evident in how the sandwich was made as when we returned to our room to eat we discovered it was haphazardly thrown together. When asked, one of the young men confirmed to us that she was the manager. As someone who runs a business we were quite dismayed to witness such unprofessional behavior from what was supposed to be the leader of the team. While her efforts to prepare my meal safely were appreciated, in the end I was unable to enjoy my meal as my husband's sandwich, which did contain mushrooms was placed in the same bag as my sandwich and fries and his sandwich leaked all over mine rendering it completely inedible. He did enjoy both his sandwich and fries, however the team only put 1 packet of ketchup in the bag for a medium fry, even after being informed that we were staying at a hotel and would need a few extra packets, which we were happy to pay for. Both young men working were very polite and tried to accommodate my dietary restrictions, but overall we were both underwhelmed and unimpressed with our overall experience. I understand that we can all have a bad day, but to so blatantly treat a customer with such resentment for a dietary restriction is completely...

I LOVE Penn Station..usually. This location is one of the worst I have been to. It legitimately took us 25 minutes to get our food the past 2 visits and half of it wasn't hot. The staff acts like taking care of guests is an inconvenience. The bread is always under toasted, the portions of meat on the sandwiches are skimpy, the meat dry and this is the ONLY location I have ever been to where my food has come out luke warm to cold. On my last visit I received cold fries. They may have been fresh cut, but they weren't fresh cooked. The staff typically looks like they belong on a pirate ship - un-kempt, dirty pants, straggly looking. If there was another location within 30 miles I would never come back to...

I've lived in Maysville for about 6yrs now an yesterday was my first time eating at this location. I always forget it is here. The location of this one is back in the corner of a shopping plaza and isn't passed from the entrances. The dood was really good an I would return to eat again if I don't have to deal wit the employee that took our order again. He was rather rude an acted like he didn't wanna be there.
