Mario's Pizza — Restaurant in Maywood

As a person who lives in Maywood and eats here quite regularly, I am now done with this place and extremely disappointed. Let me be fair in my review. Their Pizza and food can and should be good to very good..... But they consistently let me down. When I go there for lunch and order pizza I need to tell the counter staff multiple times to not leave slices in too long but with out fail they take the order then forget to pull the pizza from the oven.... So I stopped going for lunch.... The final touch, was ordering dinner on 8/2525 slightly after 8 PM. I ordered a cheese steak sandwich with light onions and mozzarella sticks and was told 10-15 min. I arrived 10 minutes later fully expecting to wait a bit and paid at the counter then took a phone call to pass the time. After an additional 15 minutes I approached the counter and was told 5 more minutes. OK, I was fine still at this point. Then the sandwich comes out and they forgot to make the mozzarella sticks. OK, I worked all day and wanted to get home to eat so I then complained stating that mozz sticks take 3 minutes they should have been done with order. I told the counter person to forget the mozz sticks and was promptly refunded.... All was forgiven and although slightly disappointed chalked it up to it was getting late and they made a mistake. I arrived home and found that the steak sandwich was cooked perfect but they put heavy onions and the onions were cold and par cooked. I assume that the cook forgot and added them at the very end. I called Mario's and at this point was angry.... The person who answered the phone (who I explained to who I was regarding earlier mistake) argued that the sandwich was fine and had light onions and they were definitely cooked because they cook them way in advance.... I responded with ok, I'll speak to owner in the morning. Taken by anger, I drove back to Mario's after 9 PM to complain to the counter clerk. I brought the many cold par cooked onions that I had to pick off the "lightly fully cooked onion cheesesteak". I asked to speak to the gentlemen that answered the phone but was told that he left. Then another gentleman pulled $12 out of the drawer and flung it on the counter and told me don't eat there anymore. FINE BY ME!!! Shame of it is, the owner is a hard working nice man that would have never allowed this..... I am a local, regular customer that has had too many bad experiences...

I gave 5 stars because the food is good. But Mario's delivery boys really need to get a grip. My second time experiencing a rude delivery guy from this place. Just because you pull up to a big house, then the person paying for the pizza (which was me) doesn't give you a tip probably means that I don't have the means to give you a tip. How did you know whether or not if I spent my last just to get something to eat for myself and my kids? Where I live, it's not my house I have to prepare food separately from the owners of the house so the struggle is real for me too! Don't sit up there and count the cash in my face with a attitude and then say something like "that's cold" and scoff walking off hella defeated. These guys need to humble themselves and realize that if you don't want to work being a delivery boy and you don't like the things you encounter sometimes, you should look for another job or go to school so you can get a better-paying job. It's none of my business as to what job anyone has but don't sit up here and take that out on the customers that's all I'm saying. One guy took 20 extra dollars last time I got a pizza delivered from there like a while ago and just walked off while I was l waiting for my change back to tip him he was "oh thank you" ran off super fast to the car and drove off. Like literally just ran off and stole from me in my face. I don't know where they find these guys but these type of jobs shouldn't make anyone that hostile and angry especially when dealing with innocent people who just wants to eat...

Some friends and I went to Mario’s for some Dinner. I got my food fast but my friend, who ordered a simple mozzarella sticks to go, got her straightforward order in an obscene amount of time. At one point, my friend even had to remind the workers of her order because they forgot about it. Approximately 10 minutes go by and they finally come out with her food but on a plate. She very clearly ordered it to go and when she kindly corrected him and said that she ordered it to go, the underaged boy rolled his eyes and walked back to the kitchen. Mind you, this boy was no older than 10 years old and probably should not be working in a kitchen. When he returned he was screaming and cursing in Spanish like it was my friends fault. My Spanish speaking friend understood the very rude things the boy was saying and translated it to us. That was very offensive and uncalled for considering it was not my friends fault.
