Uncle Louie G's Italian Ice & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Maywood

I have to say I actually love this place and crave it as soon as the ice cream season starts. However, recently I went to place an order. There were 3 employees inside who all worked on our order and still got it wrong. We purchased items to bring home with us and when we arrived at home, the bag was about to rip as it was soaking wet. Not from the heat and the contents melting but because covers weren't place properly so the contents oozed out and made a tear in the bag. The one thing that drives me crazy is that they don't train their employees how to handle orders. With 3 of them and 2 of us the order should have been filled fairly quickly, instead they came back 3 times asking the same question. Also, they need to be trained that when you put an item into a container for a to go order, keep it in the freezer while you are gathering the other parts of the order so nothing melts while you do your job. I am very disappointed in my most recent experience. I walked up to the window to find that it is cash only, which is not a problem just an inconvenience. I looked over the menu and ordered the hot waffle ice cream sandwich only to find out that it has been discontinued. There is tape covering other items, but why would they not cover this item if it is no longer being served. So I ordered a regular ice cream cup. It was very small (2 large bites) and cost a whopping $4.25. When I got my change the gentlemen next to me guilt tripped me into giving an undeserved 75 cent tip, which I didn’t get even get a thank you for from the employees. Don’t recommend...

WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM! This is no doubt THE BEST Italian Ice experience I’ve ever had! The flavors are on point. Sizes are generous for the price. There is definitely something for everyone with the tremendous selection of Italian Ice and Gelato! They also have soft serve! Mix it up! The store is super cute and very clean and kept. They take cash and cards! There is seating inside if you want to take a break and a to-go window if you are on the go. The cherry on top?…the awesome service!
