El Terco Seafood — Restaurant in McAllen

Yesterday I sat down sipping on my cup of water and watching everyone else enjoying their food and finishing their meals while my order was still wasn’t ready. Waiter was reminded about my food before everyone else finished. Therefore, my order had to be canceled due to me not wanting to eat alone and having everyone else wait for me to finish. No apologies from waiter/staff as she was too busy using her cell phone and I would’ve at least appreciated a refill just so I can at least pretend I was doing something while I watched everyone else eat from their food! Regardless of how good the food is, if customer service is not available, I will not make my time, my money or my appetite available to them. One less client for sure.

A la camarera se le recordó mi comida antes de que todos terminaran. Por lo tanto, mi pedido tuvo que ser cancelado debido a que no quería comer sola y que todos los demás esperarian a que terminara. Sin disculpas de la camarera ya que estaba demasiado ocupada usando su teléfono celular. ¡Al menos me hubiera gustado una recarga en mi vaso solo para poder al menos fingir que estaba haciendo algo mientras observaba a todos los demás comer de su comida! No importa que buena sea la comida, si el servicio al cliente no está disponible, no pondré a mi disposición mi tiempo, mi dinero o mi apetito. Un cliente...

Nice place. Started with some tostadas and a variety of hot sauces. The house made spicy green tomatillo sauce was good. We ordered the lunch special (medium shrimp soup, 2 fish chicharones (large fried fish nuggets), white rice and small side salad) and a fried shrimp and fish combo (3 fish chicharones, 4 fried shrimp, fries and a small side salad). Both plates were $6.99 each. A great deal! The soup broth was tasty and it had about 6 medium shrimp in it. The fish and shrimp tasted good and fresh. The fish tasted great all by itself. The small side salads were crispy and fresh. They provided salad dressing and their own version of a tarter suace. The suace was good but I prefer it with a bit more pickle and onion. Family member purchased a fish and shrimp caldo to go last night and found metal pieces in it as pictured here. She took it back right before they closed and was told they would let the manager know and he'd call her back the next day. The next morning the manager calls her and he reacts as if it's no biggie. He said it was part of the metal sponge they use to clean the pots and that it's happened before. He did not offer and apology and instead just dealt with it as if it was no biggie. The metal strands are minimal and not enough to do any damage is what he said. I don't think he understood that that is not the point. A place like that is not worth going to. Who knows how the rest of the food is prepared...
