Wow, what can I say. My wife and I showed up with our children 15min prior to our reserved stay (6 nights). I walked up to check in, and was informed by the desk clerk that our room wasn't ready and wouldn't be for about 15 or 20 minutes. So we went and got lunch, and returned about 30 minutes later. Same deal, room wasn't ready. Just as I started talking to my wife about finding somewhere else, they let us know our room was ready. We checked in, and proceeded on our vacation. While we stayed, there were a few things we noted: the rooms carpeted floors were grimy; half of the appliances didn't work; on our 2nd day (Friday), the card readers for all the doors stopped working, and we (as well as all the other guests) had to wait for some personnel to come open our door whenever we returned (this continued until Sunday afternoon). I was called back to work early on Sunday, and we decided we would pack up and check out in the morning. Monday morning, well before check out time, we packed up and checked out. I was given my receipt, which reflected my stay accurately, and we left. A few days later, I checked my balance to see if the difference had returned, which it had not. Mind you, I've worked in the hotel industry years ago, so this struck me as unusual. I called to sort it out. I explained to the desk receptionist that I had to leave early on account of work, and how long should I expect to wait until I received my balance. The young woman first said I would not be receiving a refund for my stay. I countered with the receipt I had in my hands. She then said she did not remember checking me out, and asked who said I would be receiving a refund. I became irate, and rattled off exactly what was on my receipt and the charges I expected. She then put me on hold. When she returned, she stated her manager would issue me a refund for 1 night only and the other night would be charged as a penalty and that this was the managers policy. I was fuming. I let my wife call their corporate line and she opened a complaint. Apparently, the corporate side has never heard of this kind of policy before, and proceeded to try and contact the hotel to issue a refund. The hotel would not answer 3 of her calls, and so she gave us a case number and said to call corporate in the morning when the hotel GM was in. We mentioned that the same thing happened to my mother, who cancelled her reservation after one nights stay and went somewhere else. I'm sure we will settle this. Avoid this place as it seems that management is suffering from...
Read moreEasily the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I chose this hotel as I am a Choice Privileges member and had just stayed at one of their other properties in Dallas, a Cambria hotel. While the rates were similar, Clarion being about a dollar higher per night, the Clarion was filthy and in such a state of disrepair, I almost left immediately if I'd not been so tired after traveling. In short this was my experience: The young woman at the front desk had to stop to reply to a text message or other communication on her phone while I waited for her to complete my check in. The card envelop / cover into which she put my cards appears to have been used over and over; not the most sanitary option considering the times. The door to unlighted alley immediately next to my room door would not close on it's own creating an unsafe situation allowing anyone to enter the motel without a key The carpeting in my room had a huge rip in it. There is a Coffee service in room, but, no coffee pods, creamer, sugar nor cups! I had this same coffee service in the Cambria in Dallas but the Cambria provided Coffee pods, cups and everything required to actually make a coffee in my room. Dirty sink and shower with hair in both No water pressure in shower Foul sewer like odor coming from shower or shower drain when water is running Cracked flooring in Shower floor tiles Smoke detector missing from the room I was pleased to see two (2) USB charging ports in wall outlet but neither of them works The desk lamp will turn on but the light fixture is broken and the bulb hangs from it One of the lights on the standing room lamp works; the other is missing a knob with which to turn it on/off The phone on the night stand is beyond filthy dirty! Unacceptable! I understand that each of these Choice Privileges hotels is independently owned and operated. I would be embarrassed to have this Clarion listed among the others in this group. Considering that I paid about a dollar LESS per night at their Cambria hotel in Dallas, this was just unacceptable. UPDATE: I did reach out to the Choice Privileges Customer Service team- while they could not provide a refund, they did at least grant me some extra points for...
Read moreIf there was one option for a “0” I’d pick that. First night we walked in, the room was horrendous! The hallway didn’t have any air conditioning so all the hot air was seeping in through our door. The door that would not lock. The door the had a crack all the way around the door handle. The top latch was barely screwed in. The 2 full beds felt like box springs. There was only a single see-through curtain hanging on the window. After speaking with the hotel lobby receptionist, he asked us to wait for the supervisor to arrive. It was well after 11:30 pm when he showed up. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is how nice this man was to us. He “upgraded” our room to a “members only building”. The room had a king size bed and a small cot on the side. The king bed mattress was on top of a queen sized box springs so the sides of the bed hind down to the sides. But we managed. 2 adults, 2 kids and a toddler. We managed in that room cause it was already late and we were tired of it all. We checked in on a Wednesday and had planned on staying til Sunday so we’d make the best of it, or so we thought. Fast forward to Friday, day 2 of our stay, we are gone by 9am and we didn’t arrive back until 10pm. Gone all day only to find our door wide open with ALL our belongings accessible to anybody that would walk by. House keeping was by request ONLY. So why was housekeeping in my room? We had fresh linens and clean towels. This was it for me. I questioned the hotel receptionist and all he could say is that he would review the cameras. Then he had the audacity to blame my “husband and small daughter”… my husband was with me all day and I don’t have a small daughter. It was clearly house keeping that left it open. They just wouldn’t tell me when it happened. By some miracle I still don’t think anything is missing. But again, this was it for me. We left the hotel that night without any help, apologies or answers. This ruined our whole trip. I will never stay at or...
