The food and atmosphere are top-notch. However, the last two times I've been to this location, our waitresses would ignore our table. We got sat down at the exact same table the two times I've been to this location, and we would get ignored after being sat down. I completely understand waitresses needing to take breaks and/or lunch. But to not even let any other waitress know so they could help our table or something is just very poor judgment, in my opinion. We would be at our table with no refills, napkins, utensils, tortillas, etc, for well over 15 minutes.
That kind of service is something I could look past the 1st time.. but a 2nd time and being sat at the exact same table as the prior visit? Either it's a big coincidence, or that's the table they use to put people on ignore. I'll give this place one more chance, and maybe I'll change my rating in service, but for now, it'll be a 1/5. The food and atmosphere are awesome, though.
If my 3rd trip here is the same, I won't be going back to this location and will just stick to going to the one near Jackson.
Edit: I've gone back 2 more times since I first uploaded my review. The past couple of times that I went after my review have been a lot better. The service had dramatically improved, and it felt like a much better experience. The food has been amazing as always, and the ambiance is great, too! I am not giving the service a 5/5 yet because I still have to keep in mind the first two times being horrible. That's not an easy thing to forget, and just let go of. It also wouldn't be fair to not be truthful to people reading this review. Especially if they felt duped because they, too, had a bad experience at...
Read moreHo. Lee. Cow. This place is an EXPERIENCE. I grew up going to the 'burg location but this is that place, jacked UP. The lunch buffet, coming out to about $14 (drink included, $11 w\ water only) is bomb af. Pozole, mole, fish fry, BBQ ribs, mac & cheese, potatoes make up some of the great food here. The deserts are fruit, & authentic Mexican desert. The group I was with had a joke that the food wasn't made with love, but frustration. All the frustration from the cooks' daily lives went into creating this passionate food. my gosh. It's been 6 hours since my group visited & we're still full, dazed, & amazed from it. We each had at least 2 plates. I bent down an hour later & my zipper unzipped, & i didn't even care lol. What I enjoyed the most was that this place wasn't packed, & gloves were provided to serve yourself with. While it's definitely not wheelchair accessible within, social distancing is encouraged among table spread. This was a great respite among vaccinated friends, in a great atmosphere. The servers are friendly, attentive, & wear their masks. I most enjoyed the one who seems to watch the dining room like a hawk, keeping everything running smoothly. The kitchen seemed to be poppin' & vibin & keeping everything in order. We'll definitely...
Read moreThis place is your typical buffet-style restaurant. They serve Mexican-ish style food. They had cheese enchiladas, Spanish rice with mixed veggies in it, and refried beans; I didn't see any charro beans. They had the green spaghetti, fried mojarra, they had several kinds of guisado including borrego (lamb) and one with shrimp. They had two kinds of menudo and two kinds of pozole. Also had some cold items like ceviche and boiled peel-and-eat shrimp and a few desserts like jello and watermelon.
I decided to try the cheese enchiladas, they were cold and didn't taste so good. I also tried the lamb guisado but it tasted kinda sweet. The menudo was alright and the refried beans and rice were alright too.
The atmosphere is very depressing, it's set up like a bingo hall and there were only a handful of tables occupied. Nothing spectacular here, I find no reason to ever...
