doesn't seem like this place is even operable. not even about the price since it's very affordable, but it is just a waste of time. I was truly shocked to see almost nothing there when I remeber it being such a nice museum with lots to do. the art area was about the 1 place I could entertain my child. however, their project of the month was not age appropriate so I asked if he could paint considering the loads of paintbrushes, paint and paper available. the employee said no because it wasn't the project of the month. a "recycled" windchime or a cd with string and beads taped to it. seems like a project that doesn't produce a lot of time or effort for the employees. considering we were the only ones in the whole museum on a weekday afternoon I dont see why we couldn't paint. I'm sure the employees love being able to sit all day with barely anything to do tho. she stayed at her desk working on the "wind chime" on her own. is she a glorified babysitter because I don't understand the point. the grocery section was sticky all over and needs a good scrubbing with a magic eraser. the big room where there was a lot of activities had nothing and they put away the tables and toys they had out when the other kids left leaving nothing for my son. this place should not be opened in the state it's in. I asked if there was going to be anything added in the future and the employee told me they were going to renovate the room. so you really can't have anything out in the meantime? and the minute a child leaves you put away the tables (plastic tables) mind you, and the plastic tins of magnets and blocks? I know my son is young but he could have had fun playing with that. not at all engaging, I should have took him somewhere else. it's such a shame because we severely lack educational spaces for children in the valley and this one has gone down hill. I really hope the employees and whoever is running the place now gets a spark of interest soon because the kids of the...
Read moreNot worth the price. They have had almost a decade to develop the unused rooms on the science exhibit side of the museum, the permanent exhibits, and they have done nothing with them. There is NOT ENOUGH CONTENT here especially if you have kids who need more to interact with. Their pathetic attempt at keeping small children entertained are a bunch of legos and wooden toys around some tables. We have those at home, thanks. Also they have a big beautiful wooden playground house outside but it has fallen to disrepair and they don't bother to fix the water guns and chutes they used to have running on it years ago. They charge an additional $5 a person for the seasonal exhibit, which is usually another lame diversion that will be spent in merely a matter of 15 minutes or so. Apparently the managers figure if they are this close to Mexico, they might as well just treat their museum like Mexicans treat businesses. Keep the money, leave...
Read moreThis was a local gem to our community. It does have great galleries, and lots of activities for the kids. A recent change of management, and staff turnover (during 2016-2017) has made dealing with them for parties and events a real downer. Their prices have skyrocketed, and we (just yesterday) decided not to pursue booking an event because the price for the same space has tripled. I've known people to turn down invitations to the board or to work there because the attitude is "do not get involved in management there, its a mess". Their vendor management processes has also been terrible. Our city leaders should really step in considering it is our tax dollars that fund it. This is a gem, i would hope management or even higher steps in before its back office reputation starts getting really known to the...
