Los Originales Tacos de Birria Pepe — Restaurant in McAllen

Birria Tacos were OK, but Not Great. The taco filler was like 95% white cheese with VERY VERY little meat. I know beef is up in price, but come on now, I ordered birria tacos NOT quesadillas. Also the flavor was lacking from other days that we have stopped to eat there. My main concern is the way they charge because everytime we go we order exact same thing and each time we pay the total is different. They want to charge 4.45% extra for paying with a card so I pay cash for no service fee and the lady that charged still managed to sneak in an extra 4% charge for non-cash. other times ive gone they have told me that the taxes are included in the price and other times they charge taxes. Not sure what shady stuff they are doing their, but they are sure ripping people off which is NOT COOL. Going to have to find a new place to enjoy...

The 2 servers were very attentive to us. The food was on point! We ordered tacos de birria with queso and they were not only loaded but big. One order could be shareable with another person. The tacos de bistek were flavorful and also loaded with meat ( looked very similar to the Mexican street style tacos). Will come back soon. Also, the charro beans were delicious! I’m super picky with frijoles and these were the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The place is nice and cold, and the service was fast.
