Chicken Salad Factory — Restaurant in McAllen

I have visited the chicken salad factory several times. The first few a girl was in charge of preparing orders and another girl was charging the customers. The last time I went there was a lady in front of me who mentioned the guys preparing the orders were the same guys charging the orders. She said the last time she had been there she had asked one of the guys to change his gloves and he had gotten upset. When the guy came to take our orders (he had finished charging another person) we asked him to change his gloves and he got upset. Then another guy came and asked what was happening to what the guy replied "they asked me to change my gloves". The new guy immediately grabbed the box of gloves and took it inside the kitchen, came back a minute later and when asked if he had changed his (he was also charging people) he said he had done it in the kitchen. I ordered by wrap and when asked if he could toast it he took my order to the kitchen. I was surprised because the toaster in by the salad bar was not being used! I asked another girl who got there and she said they could use both but I couldn't understand why take it to the kitchen if the other one behind him was available. I told them I did not want the order any more since I was afraid he would spit on my food or put something on it since he was upset he had asked them to change their gloves after charging people and before preparing our order. Never had this problem before, as mentioned the other times a girl was charging and another one preparing orders. Let me start off by talking about the food: The food is great, I love the flavors of chicken salad they have and the Fideo is great! Since the last time we’ve been things have changed. I normally would get a sandwich with toppings on a croissant. Although this time I wanted lettuce instead of bread. They offer this on the menu although they charge more for the meal with lettuce than on bread plus you have to pay $0.50 for every topping.(Which they didn’t do before) So I decided to get the sandwich and add lettuce for $0.50 cents instead in order to get more toppings for less of the cost and I would just throw away the bread.didn’t allow us to buy the one piece of lettuce for $0.50 but instead offered us mixed greens. (We think she caught on to what we were doing) After some pleading we were able to get the lettuce we wanted that we were willing to pay for by the way. All I wanted was a sandwich with toppings and lettuce instead of bread. I don’t know why there was a big fuss but this isn’t my first not so great encounter with this specific person. From a business standpoint, lettuce isn’t worth a argument with a customer. The lady at the checkout was the sweetest and was one of the reasons we’re okay with coming back as well as the person who I believe may be the manager (the woman with the bun). Truly love this place just really dislike having to place orders with this person, had she been nice or accommodating things what be different but that unfortunately...

I gave the Chicken Salad Factory a visit. It's been open for about 2 months by now. I was very impressed with the decor, service and freshness of the food. At first you think to yourself, "Chicken salad is chicken salad". Then you look at the menu and all the options show up and you start to see all the options available to you. As soon as I saw all the ingredients in the service bar, I wanted to try everything. You can tell a lot of thought and effort went into the presentation of the food and place. Now let's talk about the food. I chose the Chipotle chicken salad on a croissant. Then I had the option to add some sides. I chose grapes, red onion, and apples. As excited as I was to see how fresh all the food was, I was happy the food was as good as I thought, when I took my first bite. This was the experience I wanted from my meal. The flavors were distinct, and freshness is what came to mind as well.
