Trees! It actually has trees! The RGV is in need of some tree-loving-planting peeps', so in comparison this park is different than the city norm' of cement and chopped palms. It's a comfortable size park. I grew up climbing on all these trees, and now my sons are sharing the same. The farm canals that were transformed into a surprise "sunken garden" are alright, have been neglected garden-care wise throughout the years. The landscaping is more of trimming, cutting, not so much nurturing wise, but still better than nothing. I understand things like so cost money. It's a hot spot for people to do their stair exercises, or for kids to be in awe over the humble water fountain display. The "sunken garden" would be a superb place to play guitar, music, by the design of it, and their miniature stage that is half a water pool.- so keep that in mind for any musician peeps. Also it is a popular place for a money-free, pleasant date, so I've noticed the couples (in a none creepy way, lol). It's not "Beverly Hills", but for the Valley it's good. They keep the grass mowed well, after establishing the sprinkler usage that was needed. I hope they don't butcher the trees rooted there, the curvy branches are unique and provide shade in unique angles. The play ground is in need of new wood chips, or whatever material they prefer. And the swings need WD40 oil, lol, the squeak can be heard across the bridge, jk! But that is minor stuff. Great area to stroller walk exercise. We enjoy this place, I hope Valley folks will respect it and take care of it by picking up their, or...
Read moreI'm so glad someone else mentioned the rude people at the park. I've been walking here for years and familiar with some of the locals. However, lately new people are showing up and they feel they own the track. I've had some side swipe me, some are to busy talking with eachother and practically run me off the trail and today some tall older man was walking on my heals until I stopped and moved out of his way. This entitled person didn't even acknowledge me to apologize let alone say thank you. Yet, he went around the person infront of me. Some people lack self awarness and...
Read moreGreat park for jogging around the outer trail and using the outdoor exercise bars/equipment that is provided, or for bringing kids to the playground or the swings, or for a picnic with the grills and picnic tables on site, located under plenty of shade from the trees. Also has two public restrooms and drinking fountains. Also a small outdoor ampitheatre, where kids who like to perform could put on a little production for their family. If I move to McAllen, I'm considering living next to this park, since it was such a nice jogging location, and so family oriented with the...
