My wife and I went to Mary's restaurant. We were looking for a Mexican restaurant that serves breakfast. The place was full, there were a couple of empty tables but they were not yet bused. There was only one server working the dining room, and she was also the cashier. We didn't really have to wait to long for a table, or the menu's. We ordered coffee as she wiped down our table, which she brought right away. The coffee creamers she brought along with the coffee were in a bowl of water, I can only assume that at one point there had been ice involved. They were non- dairy creamers so they really didn't need ice. Coffee was really good, I noticed the Farmers Brothers label on the sweeteners. This is a pretty good indicator the restaurant is using their brand of coffee. I have always been a fan of their coffee and I have often used their spices as a Chef. Anyways, once we were able to order, I chose the Huevos ranchero's and my wife had the Papa's ala Mexicana. I didn't want beans or potatoes that came with my plate, but I did want bacon and sausage. We both chose corn tortillas, and I'm glad we did. We did have to wait a bit for our food to get to the table, and understandably so. My Huevos Ranchero's were good (not the best presentation) and the Salsa on top was on point. Plus it was spicy just the way I like it. The bacon was not crisp at all and was quite greasy. The sausage was the kielbasa type, sliced leanthwise, and it was dry. My wife really liked her plate, it looked a little greasy to me, but I kept that to myself. I mentioned I was glad we chose corn tortillas. Probably the best I've ever had in a long, long time. Hand made, fresh, and with the best flavor. I would go back to Mary's just for the corn tortillas. I plan on taking my Dad so he can try them. Me, I plan on ordering the flour tortillas and hope they are as good as the corn tortillas.

The Breakfast here was really delicious, I liked the taste of everything, for $8.99 you get 2 eggs, bacon, refried beans and potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly over medium however they accidentally popped 1 of the eggs on each plate, the salsa for the eggs was delicious it was flavorful and spicy, the refried beans were good i think they had lard, the potatoes were simple a bit soggy and the bacon was perfect soft delicious bacon. The corn & flour tortillas are homemade, I would recommend the corn tortillas as not many restaurants use yellow corn for their tortillas. Overall I would recommend this place for their breakfast, I will say that the menus are a bit deceptive as the price is $6.99 but in reality is $8.99. I would recommend they update their Menus fast, the place is also a bit old it could use a little something to make it better.

Went to Marys Restaurant and it was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. There was a sign inside the restaurant that says “My food takes time, if you have time I have your food”. We waited patiently and it was worth the wait. We went again the next day but they close at 1pm on Sundays, will go again when we are in McAllen. We are from Houston 🙂

Stopped here for breakfast with my partner a few weeks ago. It was our first time. We ordered tacos and coffee. The coffee arrived promptly but we waited about 20 minutes for our tacos! While we waited I looked around and saw that there were only around 4 other tables with customers, so it’s not like the place was busy. I asked the waitress if it was going to be much longer and she said it would only be a little bit longer. The tacos finally arrived around 20 minutes after I ordered them. What annoyed me is that the waitress didn’t apologize for the food taking so long and when I went to pay at the counter the owner/manager also didn’t ask about our experience and no apology for our long wait. And to top it off the tacos were expensive in my opinion. Not worth the price...
