The Human Bean — Restaurant in McAllen

I've never been to The Human Bean before, but I'm so happy I stopped by. I was slightly overwhelmed with the menu at first because everything looked great. The barista was helpful and kind with any questions I had about certain coffee products. I ended up deciding to get two blended Granitas (frozen espresso) for a co-worker and I. It was delicious! It was also topped with a cute little coffee bean. I felt like I had enough energy to last me a lifetime. 😅 I was on a mission completing every task possible at work after drinking this 🤣. So if ya need a good "pick me upper" this drink will do the damn job!!

If you have a caffeine sensitivity I highly recommend you adjust the drink to your liking. I believe this drink has two & a half shots of espresso.

Not sure what happened. Our first Human Bean experience happened in Arizona, so we were excited to find out we were getting one here at home. The problem..was pretty much everything. The coffees didn’t taste like how they should…not to mention they didn’t even taste like coffee!! I got warm milk!

My Irish Breve was not Irish and it was not sweet…not to mention they CHARGED me for “extra sweet”!!! Seriously?!? My wife’s snowy mocha was not sweet and was not chocolatey!

The crazy part is we had to pay for extra shots of espresso and the drinks STILL tasted like warm milk…not even hot.

And the bacon cheddar English muffin tasted like an over microwaved frozen one.

I’m hoping it’s only “just opened growing pains”. Too many negatives to pay $24 for something I couldn’t even drink. If HB offers me a redo I’ll go again…not sure when I’ll be willing to PAY again for it....

We loved it! The service was great. We tried the Snowy Mocha & the Mexi Mocha. I saw another review that said the snowy Mocha was not sweet and I have to say I agree, but to me that's my favorite thing about it. These drinks were the perfect balance of sweetness & espresso. As an avid coffee drinker I can't do overly sweet drinks such as the ones I've experienced @ Dutch Bros. The white Mocha @ starbucks can be too sweet most of the time so I can see why they would say this was not sweet when compared. We tried them iced, but I'll definitely be back to try the latte version. Also, the little candy bean was a good and unique...
