Yesterday, my best friend and I went out to a public place to dine for the first time in over a year. I chose University Draft House Townlake McAllen for us, because I had been dying to come inside to check out this historical site! However, I had also been to the University Draft House in Edinburg, previously, and knew that the food and beverage selections would be FANTASTIC here as well! We were not disappointed with the ANYTHING about our dining experience yesterday! In fact, every aspect of our dining experience was very relaxing and enjoyable---starting with our professional, attentive Waiter, Tino! Tino helped us with every detail of our dining experience with courtesy and efficiency---- from beverages, menus, meals, to even a carry out meal towards the end of our visit to take home for my niece who couldn't join us! As we neared the end of our visit, I took a good look around! The place was busy and jumping with a wonderful crowd! People were watching the game! People were visiting and catching up! People were out enjoying the day! Lot's of people smiling! It was really nice to be back around people in a fun, lively, happy atmosphere! I remarked to Felishia, a Manager at this establishment, how wonderful Tino and our overall dining experience had been! I was extra chatty as I had not really been out much in the last year! LOL I shared with her that I had been waiting for some time to come in and take pictures of this historic site. After Felishia heard this, she was so kind as to have Tino accompany me to a few seating areas that had not yet opened for the day so I could snap some pictures and videos of this historic site! It was an added bonus for our visit for me to be able to check out this magnificent, industrial structure up close! Over the top! Wow!!!! As my best friend and I were leaving, I thanked Felishia and complimented her, Tino, JD, and THE ENTIRE STAFF at the University Draft House Townlake McAllen, because THEY ALL WERE KNOCKING IT OUT OF THE PARK with their customer service!!!!!!!! I'll be back!!!! ...
Read moreWe visited University Draft House tonight with the intention of enjoying some live music and having a few drinks. Unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant, and we left feeling disappointed and undervalued as customers.
Upon arrival, we noticed that the outdoor area had plenty of empty tables, which gave us the impression that finding a spot wouldn’t be an issue (as seen by the photos, empty). However, as soon as we walked in, the hostess stopped us and asked if we had a reservation. We explained that we didn’t but simply wanted to grab a few drinks and listen to the music. She informed us that we needed a table and that there would be a 15-minute wait. We pointed out the numerous empty tables, but she insisted on the wait. Reluctantly, we decided to sit at the bar instead. Unfortunately, there weren’t two available seats, so we took one of the empty tables nearby.
What happened next was even more frustrating. As we sat down, the hostess approached the waitress, pointed at us, and had a conversation we couldn’t hear. After that, we were completely ignored. Despite the waitresses attending to the table in front of us, not a single one came to our table to take our order or even acknowledge us. We eventually had to go to the bar ourselves to order drinks, which was not the experience we expected.
The lack of attention and hospitality was shocking. As paying customers, we expected to be treated with respect and courtesy, but instead, we felt invisible. It’s no wonder the place was so empty—there are plenty of other options in the area, and this kind of service is a sure way to drive customers away.
Overall, our experience at University Draft House was highly disappointing. The combination of poor service, lack of communication, and overall disregard for customers left us with no desire to return. We hope management takes note of these issues and makes improvements, as the potential for a great venue is there—it just needs better execution. The drinks we are...

A friend and I had just finished a nice brisk walk around the park that's located right outside the establishment. Beautiful pond, nice looking ducks (a bit smelly but it's to be expected being a park and all), hot sunny day. We found the back gate to the establishment open and inviting, being parched and hungry, we walked right in and sat down on the patio chairs waiting to be welcomed by someone with a menu. There were three other people there and so we thought someone might be in a hurry for their next tip. They were NOT apparently. Then I thought, maybe they think we're just resting, no biggie, I waved down the waiter and he explained that we went in through the wrong door so no one was waiting on us. Then I said, ok I'll go check in, he stopped me and said that he would call someone for us. Fifteen more minutes went by and we were still listening to the crickets. Then I told my friend to let me wave down the waitress with a ring through her nose, and she side eyed me and ignored my calls. My buddy had enough and we just left. Being ignored, lied to, and treated like we didn't matter because of the door we used is a little much, for a place that is in the service bizz. I left a one star on everything because I didn't get to taste the food, didn't get service, didn't even get to enjoy any of the atmosphere because we were literally ignored with three people sitting outside and 5 staff walking around out there with us. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A SERVICE ESTABLISHMENT THAT DIDN'T WANT TO OFFER SERVICE IN MY LIFE, THIS PLACE WAS THE FIRST! There is in fact a first place for everything. Also, I did hear the place is a little pricey for what you get. I GUESS I...
