Food is ok. Not the cheapest beef in town, especially on a per size basis. Tommy’s offers a larger beef for the same price. Sucks because Tommy’s beef is always spicy and greasy and upsets my stomach.
Management/staff doesn’t care what you have to say. I’d been coming to Alex’s for many years and the home made giardinera peppers are about the only reason I still go, and for some reason the manager lady feels obligated to tell me the difference of peppers every time I order and claims the home made giardinera is mild. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t, it varies based on the jalapeño peppers, how many seeds/membrane the peppers have, etc. to call it mild will cause confusion and upset customers. 20 years in food service, I just know this.
Tried to tell the lady at the counter they needed to add a big beef to compete with neighboring Tommy’s. Charge more if you must obviously but it should be added.
Why? Alex’s fries generally have sucked. I’m not much for paying 5.00 for a side I don’t enjoy and I’d rather just have the bigger beef. Portillos also offers this option. Thought maybe by suggesting it we’d mutually benefit but it fell on deaf ears.
If only they could listen half as well as they tell.
Still ok in my book,...
Read moreWorst food I have ever had in my life!! Id prefer gas station food or even White Castle over this place.
First let me start off my saying the inside of the building looked like something that would be inside a Walmart, the employees did not wear hair nets nor gloves and looked like they were upset, the pricing was as expensive as Portillos/Buno Beef, and other well known Chicago franchises.
Second the food was terrible!!! The burger meat was literally as thin as a piece of cheese and thinner than White Castle burger for double the price. Your better off going to McDonalds and getting a better and more flavorful meal. The fries tasted so gross my wife couldnt finish them. The Italian beef had tasted extremely bland and there was no juice, it was like they sprinkled water on it for flavor.
Seriously if I was intoxicated and the menu items were half off I would still not go here.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS EXPENSIVE HOLE IN THE WALL. If you really want to try this restaurant's food, im sure you could come up with some sort of mix of random food from your refrigerator and make something tastier.
I dont know how this place is still...
Read moreWas looking for a good gyro experience and today I found one. I could tell when I walked through the door that I was in the right place. 2 gyro rotisseries going and all brown and crunchy. The staff was older friendly guys who had been doing this for a long time. I asked the guy at the counter whats the best thing they had in the place and he immediately said The Gyro Plate. So when in Rome... We ordered and he told us to have a seat and in a moment our food was ready. A surprisingly large amount of food. The pita bread was soft and flavorful, the meat was not too salty or too garlicky or too greasy and the veggies were fresh. I liked that the meat was browned by the IR rotisserie and not fried up on the griddle. The parsley on the onions was refreshing as well. Large basket of fries that tasted like clean oil and potatoes. The tzatziki sauce was unique. Never had one like it. Yogurt based but, really different in a good way. The inside of the place was clean and smelled okay. And oh, they have their own home made giardiniera. Didn't try it yet but, I'll be back for something that requires a little...
