Green Street Cafe — Restaurant in McHenry

My recent visit to Green Street Cafe in McHenry was incredibly disappointing. From the moment I walked in, the service was painfully slow. It took forever for someone to even acknowledge me, and when they finally did, the hostess looked absolutely miserable – not a welcoming sight. When the food eventually arrived, it was clear the kitchen staff wasn't paying attention. They'd managed to burn my biscuit, and instead of remaking it, they tried to cover it up with a mountain of gravy. It was a sloppy attempt to hide their mistake, and it didn't work. The biscuit tasted burnt. The overall atmosphere was just off. It felt like no one cared about the customers. I wouldn't recommend Green Street Cafe to anyone. Worst experience ever. We like to keep the mom and pop places in business. Maybe they should get someone who can ACTUALLY listen when taking a to go order. Love the diner vibe. Hopefully just a bad day. We ordered very simple items. The over easy eggs my father ordered were served with runny whites, barely cooked. I've never ever seen him send food back, but he had to, the uncooled whites were running into his hashbrowns. Very disappointing because it took an unreasonable amount of time for our food to even come. I didn't time it, but it was probably 45 minutes, which is a long time for a diner that wasn't even busy.
