Handel's Ice Cream — Restaurant in McKinney

Our first impression was how far the handicap parking was from the door, ridiculous! Then we order our ice cream expecting to sit down and enjoy it and there were only two tables and they were both very tall, pub table height with corresponding tall stools. No way could my paraplegic son transfer to a stool that high, and if he rolled up to the table, he would have been looking at the bottom of the table and completely secluded from the rest of our group! Not handicap friendly at all. In regard to the ice cream there were an amazing number of flavors They will let you try try as many as you want, but we all just picked a flavor. The employees were courteous, friendly and eager to please. With no other options, we went outside in the heat, sat on a metal uncomfortable bench, and attacked our rapidly melting treats The ice cream was good, but not exceptional. Maybe the experience was a little too hyped up and I was little disappointed because of that. The flavor was good, but the creamyness and texture fell some what short of expectations. I truly hope they read this and make some attempts to improve on being a little more ADA...

I cannot express the amount of disappointment and frustration my husband and I feel tonight towards this company. Tuesday nights are our “splurge” nights. We both have Wednesday’s off work. Tonight we excitedly chose Handle’s to order ice cream from. This was our first experience with the company and upon seeing all of the positive reviews we decided this would be a “no fail” scenario. After we made our oder (over $20 dollars) we waited for 30 minutes. Unfortunately We never received our ice cream. I feel very frustrated that our hard earned money went towards nothing. I would like my money back but have yet to receive it. I do not recommend ordering from this company or supporting them in any way. I rarely ever leave negative reviews (being a business owner myself) but this is so unprofessional and unbelievable I had to leave a review about it. Over $20 dollars and you don’t get what you bought. There are plenty of other McKinney ice cream companies to chose from that will actually give you what...

I worked at Baskin Robbins for 5 years. I love good ice cream. We had heard about Handel's... their reputation precedes them. We walked in, were immediately greeted, and the 3 people that helped serve us were super friendly. That isn't always easy to find these days.

I ordered a double in a waffle cone of blueberry cheesecake and coffee (and odd combo... but after a few tastes, it was my favorite two). It was so freaking good! It is no comparison to Baskin Robbins. My wife got the salted caramel. You know it is good when you are already planning your next trip when you are still eating.

I thought the prices were good (less expensive than Baskin Robbins... and A LOT less expensive than those frozen yogurt places where you weigh your bowl).

But... two main reasons to go to Handel's in McKinney: 1) a great staff. Really appreciate them. 2) the best freaking ice cream...
