Came hungry, left hungry.. very underwhelming and disappointed especially for the price. I don’t understand the raving reviews or the 4.8 rating at all.
What we ordered: Combination pho and the orange chicken plate with rice.
Portions: Pho - For the cost of the pho being $15 a bowl with no choice of sizing, I expected a decent amount of meat and a generous portion of noodles. What I got was equivalent to most pho restaurants small serving or less. I was finished with the noodle portion within 5 bites leaving me left with a few pieces of steak and meatball to finish alone with a large bowl of broth to slurp down to try and make my stomach fulfilled.
Orange Chicken: The only saving grace here was the chicken was generous but the syrup glazed orange sauce left much to be desired. Panda Express orange chicken is better.
The meat: Pho - The meat was not fresh. It was chewy and not pleasant. Quality was poor. Only savior here was the meatballs which you could taste the beef in and did not contain a lot of fat like other restaurants. Also for combination pho, most places include tendon & tripe as well, no option or inclusion of that for $15.
Orange Chicken - The pieces were either very large or very small, no consistency. The meat itself was not battered before deep frying. What you expect from your typical crispy orange chicken was met with slight crisp and slight sogginess because the orange sauce used was so thick and with a syrup consistency. However, the chicken itself was very dry leaving the need for the syrup orange chicken sauce to help you swallow it down.
The broth: Probably the most basic pho broth I’ve tasted in quite some time, almost like it was made by packet or some type of bouillon cube. Had no depth or pronounced flavor as you expect from a typical pho broth that’s been long/slow cooked.
Service: I was not checked on by the waitress until I was finished with my meal when I asked for the check. No inquiry of “how is the food” or “do you need anything else”. The only question I was asked was at the end of the meal when I went to pay and that was if I needed a to-go box.
Overall: I honestly feel ripped off. There are many better quality pho restaurants in the area for the price and I hope that the owner(s) take this as productive feedback to improve customer experience and...
Read moreI tried this Pho House, and the first time it was actually good. Unfortunately, second time, it was really not that great. The customer service is great, so is the dining room, unfortunately the food is not. It pains me to stay this, but they’re using bad meat in their food. I LOVE Pho, I eat it very often and it’s gotten to the point where I can distinguish good pho VS bad pho down to the little details. It’s usually the beef or broth that’s a problem. Especially when you get your pho and the beef is already in the pho. It’s a big red flag for me, because usually they’re trying to disguise the bad meat. Which is what happened when I got my Pho here. The meat immediately looked off. I took a bite and it tasted extremely rotten and it looked SUPER thin. I knew something was wrong. So, I took all the meat out of my bowl and there was little mold spots around it. It smelled rotten and started to turn hard, like it was really old, and the meat was extremely thin. Still makes my stomach turn. Never seen my beef like that before. I brought it to the “manager” who apologized for the bad experience. I paid the original full amount for our food. I wasn’t mad, just disappointed. I’m still not mad, but I think people have a right to know what they paying to eat. Which is not honorable or good quality. Sorry Pho House, I will not be returning. You will spend better money going across the street to Pho Que Hong. They have quality meat, and have never let me down in...
Read moreFinally! A place that does the salt and pepper tofu correctly: crispy on the outside, perfectly tender on the inside, and perfectly seasoned with just the right balance of salt and pepper. It’s savory and addictive, with a slight kick from the pepper and a delicious crunch that doesn’t overpower the tofu’s subtle flavor. Served with a side of dipping sauce, it’s a great appetizer or accompaniment to any meal.
As for the vermicelli noodles, they’re light yet hearty, with a wonderfully chewy texture that complements the fresh herbs, crisp vegetables, and protein options you can add on top. The meat, noodle, and vegetable portions are balanced, and you get a satisfying mix of warm and fresh elements in every bite along with the nuoc mam.
The pho itself is consistently flavorful, with a rich broth that has depth without being overly salty. The meat portions are very generous and good sized. But it’s clear that this place knows how to do more than just the traditional pho.
Service is always friendly, and the atmosphere is casual and welcoming. If you find yourself in the mood for something different, I highly recommend trying the tofu and vermicelli noodles here—they’re not...
