Ok ladies and gents, this is a new restaurant here but we have a few goods and bads... Bads- got there at 1:15 pm. Two waitresses at the bar on their phones. Had to ask to place my order. Order placed and had to wait over 20mins. As the girls played on their phones, with tables a mess and food on the front bar, and floors dirty. 2 tables were there. And not once did I see a waitress ask if they needed anything. $8 for a "large" caso. Which was only 4 Oz. Not one employee asked if I wanted a beverage, yes I would of paid. Need work on customer relation skills and keeping the place clean! Food though was the bomb! Even tho I wasn't told my chicken would have jalapeƱos in it..... maybe a spice indicator or to let people know it's a bit spicy! Js. Oh an becareful of the first step into the place. Yes it is bright yellow but make sure you look down. Some improvements needed at this location. And some manners would make it more enjoyable as well. Oh yea, PUT UP THE DAMN PHONES LADIES! You're there to do a job not specialize on your phones. Put them away. Well, well.... My husband and I went one more time to see if some issues were delt with. And I must say, this lady is NOW Truly impressed! All floors were clean! One lady behind the bar doing her work and waited on us. Her service was EXCELLENT! We were even offered a drink this time while we waited on our food!! Yup must improved and excellent food again!! Oh yes, the portions now are correct. . . Thank you for listening and doing a fantastic job now!!! Oh can ya get Coors original in???...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will start with the atmosphere. Some will love it and some will hate it. It is clean and well kept. The theme is Dia De Los Muertos. It is very artistic but not everyone will want to eat surrounded by skulls and imagery of death. Many Mexican restaurants will have some of this imagery mixed in with other themes but I can appreciate the artistry (which is unequivocally good) and not want to eat in a mausoleum. I can see some people putting the atmosphere here at 5 stars and some at maybe 2.
Service was fairly good overall but I was a guest and the host was not happy that a 20% service fee was automatically added in and was not apparent until after he paid the bill so he ended up adding an additional tip on top of that. There were 6 people so it was not a large party.
The food could best be described as bland. It would also probably better be described as fusion rather than Mexican food. Portions were pretty good. Even the chips and salsa were not as good as store brand grocery store fare. We obviously did not try everything on the menu but no one was impressed with the flavor of their selection. That being said, of course individual tastes can vary. One member of the part loves Raman so she ordered that dish (like I said -- think fusion not Mexican restaurant) and the presentation was artistic but the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe are new to town and have been spoiled with some pretty amazing Mexican style restaurants in the past. I was very pleased to see when La Jefa was opening a brick & mortar location. Our first time trying La Jefa was 3.16.2024, we will be back!! We were promptly greeted at the door, for our style of lunch that day we chose to sit at the bar. It was clean, the music was loud but not too loud, it made the ambiance just right. You could hear the kitchen staff buzzing and a number of tables having conversations, just what you hope for in a busy restaurant. We had a couple alcoholic beverages; I had a Ranch Water and my husband had a Michelada. The chips and salsa were very good, although itās not free, the salsa seemed like it was made in-house and had a great flavor of lime and cilantro. It was just as it should be. And the chips were great and crispy and nicely salted. I could go on about our meal but I imagine no matter what you order, youāll be pleased. I hope the staff knows just how appreciated they are. I am looking forward to going back. The pricing was fair. Itās nice to experience a place of their caliber here in McPherson, being as there arenāt many dine in places...
