My family has been maybe half a dozen times. They have really interesting and unique flavors. Over the summer, there was one flavor that was Strawberry and Basil (I think) and it was divine. They have absurd flavors you wouldnât find anywhere else, like Thanksgiving Leftovers and Hot Buffalo Wings, as well as a few alcoholic flavors, but they also have more classic sweet flavors like cookie dough, chocolate brownie, and cotton candy. That being said, our visit today is the reason for my review. My 4 year old and I got there a few minutes before they opened at 2pm, so we waited outside until they opened. The girl working let me know as soon as I walked in that their credit card system was down. I told her I have cash in my car, went out to grab it, and came right back in. My son and I each ordered a single scoop ($3.95/ea). When I went to hand her a $10 bill, she looked at her phone (using the calculator, I believe), then looked in the cash drawer, then got flustered and said they hadnât left her with a full till. It looked like there was money in it, so maybe she just couldnât make change? She said it was on the house. I asked three times, âAre you sure?â and she kept saying, âYes, itâs fine.â I thanked her and my son and I sat down to enjoy our ice cream. (It was good.) As we were leaving, another two employees had shown up, and one of them (a blonde woman Iâd estimate to be in her 40âs) stopped us and told me to pay. She asked if I know what our total was. I told her, âWell, we each got single scoops, so $7.90 + tax.â I handed her the $10 bill and she gave me $2 back. It just felt⊠aggressive? It was a really sour experience and I felt like I was being treated like a shoplifter or something. I had tried to pay twice (once by card and once with cash), but they clearly werenât ready to take customers, yet. Why would they even have the door open if they canât accept CC payments and they donât have enough cash to make $1.63 in change? I didnât go there seeking out anything for free and I had gone into this business ready and willing to pay for my order. To say itâs on the house and then turn around and demand payment 10 minutes later felt cheap to me. Customer service plays a much bigger role than the ice cream itself and you just lost customers over $8...
Read moreI had seen a story on this ice cream shop on the local news so our family thought that we would give it a try. We went to the McSherrystown location. We ordered a milkshake and two cups of ice cream. You pay first for the ice cream and then they make your order. I guess they have trouble with people not paying. Anyways, once the orders are done they are placed on the counter. I was given a milkshake with no lid. Since I was not drinking the milkshake at the store I asked for a lid. The young girl behind the counter immediately turned and reached toward the lids. An older woman, snapped at the young girl and stated that they did not have any lids. Our server looked confused and I could understand why, the lids were right there next to the cups. The older woman then turned toward me and said in a stern voice, "we have no lids." Again, confused because I could see the lids, I asked for clarification. The older woman snapped again, "we have no lids for the shakes!" Not wishing to make a scene over a lid, I left the business lidless.
Regardless of the quality of the ice cream, customer service means far more to me than anything else. We will just stick with Half Pint Creamery. Oh by the way, they give you a lid for your milkshakes with a smile at Half Pint.
After Owner Response: Thank you for confirming my initial assessment of your customer service. Now, you just fabricated a lie in your response and further reduced your reputation. You could have simply accepted this as constructive criticism and realized that it is unusual for an ice cream business not to provide lids for "To Go" milkshakes. We were polite as stated in our...
Read moreWhat a wonderfully fun place. Classic ice cream parlor looks are combined with a trendy, fresh attitude. Here you will find high quality ice cream in a variety of flavors from the expected chocolate and strawberry through gourmet selections like lemon blueberry cheesecake and PB carmel brownie crunch to avant guard choices like spicy pineapple avocado and cool ranch Doritos. The young entrepreneur who founded the creamery is a huge fan of Taylor Swift and also created a line of flavors inspired by her music. They have cones, dishes, sundaes, shakes and more.
My wife and I got a four scoop ice cream flight. I tried the Lavender Haze, lemon and lavender ice cream. It was wonderfully smooth, lemony and refreshing with the lavender coming in as a pleasant floral note at the end. My second choice was the Wildest Dreams hibiscus pineapple ice cream. Again a really innovative and delicious combinations. The flavors are very present but subtle and refreshing, not cloying in any way.
My wife chose the salted caramel brownie which was decadent and delicious. Her second choice was the Feeling 22 black cherry white claw Italian ice. She found it understated and very refreshing.
So many flavors, so little time. But this place is gaining a following, I recognized the executive chef from one of the local fine dining restaurants in line ahead of us taking pictures and ordering some frozen happiness. We will definitely be back. Great experience,...
