Decided today to enjoy a breakfast diner experience with my significant other. The location of the diner is in a beautiful area, however the inside of the diner is much less appealing. The inside is very very small, the kitchen area looks messy and it feels cluttered. I noticed that the ceiling panels in the kitchen area were browned and some were sagging. The noise emanating from the kitchen made it very hard to hear my partner or anyone else for that matter. Once we were seated I immediately noticed a stickiness to the table, within the first minute of being seated we were asked what we wanted to drink, I replied that I needed a second to check what they had to offer. I was then immediately asked again in a louder voice what I wanted to drink, I once again said I needed a moment. While trying to find the beverages in the madness that is their menu (more on that in a minute) a waitress got right next to my head and VERY loudly asked me in a stirn voice what I wanted to drink, which at this point my partner was asking me if we should leave because of this. I finally found the beverages and asked for a pink grapefruit juice (admittingly not realizing how tart it would be, and thats on me). We find what we want to order (to my dismay this breakfast diner does not serve waffles) and I apologise and ask for a diet pepsi and some chocolate chip pancakes, the waitress asked if I didnt like it and I sheepishly explained it was more tart than I expected and I was met with a very sarcastic "Thats what grapefruit juice is". The menu is so disorganized and filled with ads. You have to flip through multiple pages of ads to find the menu, and theirs more pages of ads throughout. We get our food and I was saddened to receive bisquick pancakes. They were certainly not handmade. They had a gross tasting crunchy oil on the outside (Im not a cook but Ive never had a crunchy pancake). The food was just not good. My partner wasnt particularly wowed by his eggs bacon and toast. When given my pepsi I was given a semi cold bottle and a small glass of ice. I would also like to note that none of their plates cups or utensils matched, and I even saw them serving people with christmas themed mugs (Its september). I will not be...
Read moreMy wife and I went here for just the basic egg breakfast. Despite being seated immediately, it took a very long time to cook eggs, bacon, toast, and home fries. In the meantime, I had a hard time flagging someone down to get a coffee refill as there is only one dedicated person waiting the 10 or so tables.
When breakfast eventually arrived my toast was burned black, the bacon was so thin it was practically see-through, and the home fries had a nice crispy side, but the other side was almost raw potato. The eggs were cooked well enough but everything was greasy and unseasoned.
The staff were nice and you could tell the front of house staff were trying their best. It just wasn't enough to make up for the...
Read moreCappa’s Trackside Kitchen in Melrose, Mass is so much more than a breakfast cafe, it’s a woman owned, family run business that has everything you want in a restaurant and so much more. Their menu selection is by far the best in the area compared to other local establishments. Their prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge, but what truly makes Cappa’s Trackside Kitchen standout is the amazing people that work there, from the cooks who get the order spot on every time, to the warm and friendly wait staff that are always smiling and spreading their happiness with each and every customer. There’s a lesson to be learned here, this is how all restaurants need to be.
Highly Recommended from a very...
