I have been ordering from Petrones for over 15 years, but lately I have been doing so less and less because of the young woman that answers the phone to take orders. She is never pleasant, and can be downright rude at times. Last night the delivery driver stood outside our porch and knocked on the storm door instead of coming inside the porch to ring the bell. The only reason I realized someone was there was because my dog started barking at the door to alert us. He had started to walk back to his car, so I had to run outside barefoot to stop him. I called the shop to let the owner know, as this has happened a few times, and the rude young woman answered again. When I asked to speak with the manager she laughed and said he was âvery busyâ, asking why canât she help me? I told her she couldnât help me and I needed a manager, but she insisted he had no time to speak to his customer. I just hung up. I will not order from them again since they continue to employ rude, incompetent people, and have no time for their customers. The place has gone totally down hill from the Petrones I remember when I was younger, which was a place that always had time for a customer. Very...
Read moreI think Petrone's has the absolute best pizza in Melrose & I lived in Melrose for 18 years. Of course I realize it all depends on how you like your pizza. So I say Petrone's pizza is nice & doughy in fact they don't skimp on anything, they're just as generous on the cheese for just a regular cheese pizza but not too much if you don't like extra cheese, & the red sauce which you can tell has plenty of basil cooked in with it & any Italian or Italian food lover can tell you it's basil that gives Italian red sauce it's flavor (in addition to garlic). I'd recommended the chicken, broccoli, & ziti too. It's basically a takeout/delivery place. I don't think you can go in & sit down or if you can there's just 1 or 2 seats & not very comfortable. By the way, Feng Sheii or whatever you call it now has the best Chinese food in Melrose. That's a...
Read moreThis used to be my favorite spot in town for pizza and I have given the new owners a little bit of a grace period to see how things shake out. Overall the food has taken a dive and the prices have stayed the same or gone up. I am going to be looking for a new pizza spot.
The best dough in town has changed and is now forgettable and tastes like cardboard. A small two topping pizza (pepper and onion) is approaching sixteen dollars. The killer for me though was Kalamata olives on the menu have been replaced with canned black olives - you canât just change something and keep calling it the same thing. Itâs pricey, tastes worse and the little crumby changes add up to a crumby pizza. I know inflation is hitting hard and I love Greek pizza but this place has...
