La Favorita Tienda Mexicana — Restaurant in Melvindale

I recently visited Khalaf Restaurant in Dearborn with family, and overall, it was a good experience with a few ups and downs.

The grilled meats were the highlight of the meal. The chicken skewers were juicy and nicely seasoned, and the beef kebabs had good flavor, though a couple were a little dry. Presentation on skewers with fresh parsley was a nice touch.

The hummus was creamy and smooth, topped with chickpeas and herbs—definitely fresh, though it could’ve used a bit more lemon or garlic to stand out. Fries were crispy and hot, but very basic—nothing special. The fresh salad was crunchy and colorful, a good side to balance the meal.

Service was decent but a little slow considering the restaurant wasn’t too busy. The table wasn’t cleared as often as it should’ve been, and we had to ask twice for water refills.

If you're in the mood for solid Middle Eastern grilled meats and homemade-style hummus, it’s worth checking out. But for a perfect experience, they could improve on the small service...

The best place for tacos in whole Michigan!! These are authentic tacos as I have in Mexico City. I love the asada, carnitas and pastor. Their stuffed peppers are also the best around. I always enjoy getting some good tacos at lunch time and go around in the little grocery store where I can get some of my childhood candies, tamales, cacahuates japoneses. I only would appreciate if they can improve the quality of the bakery as it was 2 years ago. I liked very much the polvorones which they do not have anymore; now the bread tastes soapy. Besides that everything is amazing. I love this place and I will continue going...

It's a small place you might drive by without noticing, but I recommend stopping in. There's a small convenience store when you walk in, and the restaurant in back. It's a little cramped, but it's stuffed full of goodies and charming Mexican decor. They cook to order on a grill and fryer visible from the counter. The tacos are delicious, especially the chicken tacos, with onion and cilantro and limes on the side. They are rather small though, so we order about 8 for 2 people. The staff is friendly and lively. It's such a different vibe than anywhere else nearby, definitely worth at least...
