Ok, So my wife and I are in the area and need our fix of Thai food. We arive Sunday evening the 28th. Kinda nice setting seeing how it's an old house in a nice area. All the serving staff is white, not one single Thai person working the floor.. To me not a good sign. We get seated and the waitress brings the menus. To me to limited and basic easy Thai. food for Americans. We get our food. Chopsticks please. We do not have any she says.. I'm like Huh? Well the boss says they don't use them in Thailand. I look at my wife who is Thai and said how many sets do we have at the house in Thailand.. Then ask for chilis in fish oil. They charge extra for this. In all of our travels here in the US and Canada we have never been charged extra for this...Never Plus no chopsticks. Oh the owner is American and have Thai cooks so they say. We ask for Thai hot and it comes out mild even in American standards. I ask for the bill. ok it comes and we pay cash. They take forever to get our change. Well taxi is there and I'm walking out the door. Then I hear somebody yelling at me. Yep I did not tip the waitress and she is yelling. I explain to her how her boss is not a true place and that she does not deserve a tip.. Told her to talk to the owner about this matter. Yes I have and had plently of cash. And I normally do tip, but not there. Our first and last time there.. This place is American Thai, not...
Read moreWent to Bahn Thai on May 14, 2016. A friend was in Memphis for the weekend and wanted Thai food. I don't think it could have been worse. Food was terrible. Amateurish cooking. Appetizers and entree was terrible. Thai Spring Rolls which were shredded cabbage with boiled chicken wrapped in a flour tortilla covered with what tasted like a bad plum sauce with yellow mustard. This was the worst. Skewered shrimp appetizer was edible but nothing special and bland. Again severed on a pile of shredded cabbage. The entree was basically curry chicken that just seemed like recently boiled chicken with onions in a curry sauce prepared in two minutes. No depth of flavor. No added heat. Nothing special or even tasty. Just bland. All for the cost of $70. I used to like Bahn Thai and recommended it. Not any more. I would not recommend it. Go to The Emerald...

We ordered Kee Mao noodle and it tastes like water. No seasoning what-so-ever. If you like bland food or have a digestive problems that can't handle any kind of spice, this is the food you would want to eat. We told our waitress to take the dish away to have more room on our table(and the food looked like we barely touched it) and she never asked if everything taste okay. One of the older female manager was right there to listen to the whole thing fold, she also didn't say anything.
Tom Yum soup.. you can't even call this Tom Yum soup. This is your typical clear broth with hint of lemongrass. It was the same soup they brought out with our entrees(side soup). If our waitress informed us that our entrees comes with side soup(same soup!), we would've never ordered TomYum...
