Had not been here in many years, but decided to give it a fresh try. Results were mixed, but overall good. Ambiance is nice, feels intimate and appropriate for a family Italian restaurant. Service was lacking at times, as our server kept disappearing on us and just lacked the observation skills expected at this kind of restaurant. He also seemed frustrated right away when we sat down and he asked for drink orders and we were not yet ready. Attention every restaurant – why hand out food menus to everyone and yet only one drink menu when it is the drinks that are ordered first? Please give a drink menu to everyone! We settled on a bottle of wine and they were out of that wine. With a rather small wine menu, there is no excuse for being out. For starters we had the Mussels fra Diavolo. Good quantity, well done mussels and a nice sauce, but no small forks or spoons as better restaurants serve with mussels. Also had shrimp gorgonzola, which was excellent. All four side salads were fresh and crispy. Mains: Manicotti was according to the person who ordered it, average at best. Veal Piccata was very good but the side was forgotten and brought later. Veal Marala was described as just okay and again the pasta it was supposed to come on was left off so the server took it back and it took way to long to return. Veal lolla Brigida was really really good. For dessert the server suggested caramel pie and insisted we get two for the four of us. We resisted and just got one and it was plenty to share. Shame on him for pushing so hard. As for the quality of the pie; it was good. Final conclusion is a low 4 stars to a high 3 stars. Listing it as a 3 because of the...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped by this place for dinner, and we immediately loved the vibe. The ambience was lively yet laid-back and cozy, making it a great spot to unwind.
The service, however, was on the slower side. We noticed other tables had complimentary house-made bread with herbed olive oil, so we asked our server about it. She mentioned she was new and hadn’t offered it at first, which was a bit unsettling, but once we got it, the bread and oil were delicious—and exactly what we needed since we were starving.
For appetizers, we ordered the fried calamari. The portion was generous, tasty, and so filling that we had to take some home. Before the mains, salads were served—my Caesar salad was crisp, fresh, and well-balanced with parmesan, while my friend enjoyed his Greek salad. Both were a solid start to the meal.
For the entrees, I had a veal dish prepared schnitzel-style—breaded, fried, and served with gnocchi, mushrooms, and a rich Italian-style sauté. It was hearty and satisfying, though the portion was more than I could finish, so I took leftovers home. My friend ordered salmon, which he really enjoyed, though his portion was noticeably smaller and he finished it quickly.
We ended on a sweet note with a shared cannoli. The filling was nicely balanced—not overly sweet—but the shell could have been a bit crunchier. Still, it was a good finish.
Overall, the food was very good and the atmosphere lovely, though the service could definitely be more attentive. Since we were mainly there to spend time together, the slower pace didn’t ruin the evening, and...
Read moreA friend recommended me to try Brooklyn bridge Italian Restaurant. They said the steak is the best around. I ordered the Steak Masala and asked for no salt and cooked medium. The server recommended putting the Masala sauce on the side. I thanked her for the recommendation and waited an hour and a half for my steak to come. When it arrived, sauce was not on the side, it was overly salty, and cooked rare. I would have lived with one of the three but all three is tough and I didnt want to wait another hour and a half to get another meal cooked. Especially since my friends were eating.
I am not looking for anything other than an apology as I was eating with two friends, that I ended up paying for and I didnt even eat! Its 8:45pm now, and I've got to find something else to eat after spending more than $100. A gentleman working there commented that "the server will be taken care of". The server? What did she do wrong? How is she going to be taken care of? Maybe it was an off night for the cook staff, but how you handle things means much more than the bad experience in my book. They could have offered a to go meal that was prepared quickly, they could of done a better job of hiding their frustration with me as if it was my fault it took an hour and half to deliver the quality they did. Thats where Brooklyn Bridge failed tonight. I have no problem paying for my meals but this has been awful.... going home hungry..... I dont recommend this place, but my lonely 1 star review wont make much...
