If you’re in Memphis and craving Middle Eastern comfort with a twist, Yafa Kabab on Poplar Ave is lighting it up—especially with their Philly Cheese Steak, Kufta Sandwich, and Gyro Sandwich. Their kababs bring real depth—nicely charred, boldly seasoned, juicy. Each sandwich is loaded with fresh vegetables and well-balanced sauces—no soggy mess. Soft yet sturdy, it holds everything together while offering that warm, fluffy bite. Yafa Kabab is a delicious revelation for Memphis foodies. Their Philly Cheese Steak reinvents a classic with Mediterranean soul. Their Kufta sandwich is a flavorful hero, and their Gyro is a throwback to the best gyro. All within a south‑city gem. If you’re in the mood for bold, comforting, and expertly grilled Middle Eastern sandwiches, Yafa Kabab deserves a prime spot on your list. Head over, grab a combo, and prepare to come back hungry for more!

Me and my family decided to try this place out for the 1st time recently. We got there before they opened at 10am and waited a bit. They didnt open right at 10 but a little after, which isnt a big deal. The man was extremely nice and welcoming when we came in and took our order quickly. Even though he seemed to be the only one there, he got our orders out very fast. We ordered a little of everything from chicken shawarma, gyros, kofta, kabobs and sides. This was most of ours first time having traditional Mediterranean foods and they were amazing! My husband used to be in Iraq and said it reminded him of the food they would eat when he was there. The only thing I could see that needs improving is just making sure the bathrooms stay swept. Other than that, this place is way past a 5 🌟

I was asked "Are you here to place an order?" . I answered "Yes" Then I Was rudely turned away by employees at door saying they were closed. If they are closed then why ask me that? Just say "We are closed unless you're picking up. They were talking to each other, I may have interrupted their break time idk. Female employee said "HE'S JOKING'. when in fact he was not joking . It was 850pm. stated closing time is 930pm. My attempt to patronize this business isn't forever nah. As much as I love me some Kabob (NY Native) I wouldn't trust such tude to fix my food. Black folks like Kabob too ya know. Added photos of people inside eating and SIGN clearly saying open.

Only come here if you have a lot of time to waste for little value.

I visited Yafa twice: the day they opened, and several months later. The first time, the waiting was very long, like an hour long, the service subpar (several missing/forgotten items, no refills, etc), the atmoshere was lacking (who wants to hear fox news while you eat?) and the food was hit or miss. But we chalked it up to growing pains.

The second time, several months later, I ordered through UberEats and showed up 30 minutes later to pick up, only to have to wait almost another 45 minutes. The waitress/register lady barely acknowledged me or communicated during that time. When the food finally came, some items were good and others had no flavor, like the hummus. They completely forgot to add the pita bread that was supposed to come with everything I ordered (+100 dollars worth of food).

I wanted to like this place, but there are cheaper, faster, friendlier and better tasting Mediterranean...

I had been eyeing this place for a few weeks but kept forgetting it when I went out for mediterranean food.

It's half a pizza joint, which isn't too bad I've heard but I came for the hummus and the kebabs. Dang I was not prepared for the explosions of flavor!

There a sweet young lady who helped me pick something out after I immediately said I wanted a hummus appetizer. She motioned me to the Yafa Kebab Super Plate, and boy am I happy with everything I got. Even offered me some falafel, which was the best I think I've ever had. And this big guy has had his fair share, let me tell you!

The chicken was to die for, the kufta was unreal. I downed it as quickly as I sat down and had plenty for leftovers.

Don't miss out on this lovely, delicious place. Mediterranean and especially halal food is always great, but this place really steps it up. I can't wait to try the halal...
