Ellis Seafood — Restaurant in Memphis

5-16-2020-On today, I went to Ellis Seafood. As I pulled in, I noticed a few cars by the door with a guy sitting on a stool. I went around to get in line (the last two weeks I’ve ordered at the speaker-I have receipts to prove it). As I waited in line, I got to the speaker. The guy said “did you place your order with the guy outside”...I said no as he didn’t say anything or there wasn’t a sign to say so. The guy motioned for me to pull up & said you have to go back in line & order. I said I’ve been waiting & there was nothing to tell us to do so. He said either you go back in line or have a nice day. I said pardon me? He said either order over there or we don’t need your business....he said we’ve been doing this for two weeks. I said not true cause I was just here last week. He looked at me and said oh well! I said you’ve lost a customer & I will never return. He said ok we don’t need you! I’m mortified that a business would speak to a customer in that manner. I will NEVER patronage a business that could not simply take an order and tell me to get back in line to get my order or bring to the car. And apparently, I wasn’t the only car that did not understand their process. This is unacceptable behavior from a business. Again, I love the food but the service was unprofessional & he says he was...

To start with, the place gave me haunted mansion vibes. I didn't know if I was going to a dark alley or I was going to get my brakes changed. Once I pulled up, I noticed the dim lights on the intercom and the highly renovated menu. Despite being a genuine person, I took a chance on this place. I've heard about the seafood but I'm pretty sure I've came across better.

After placing my order, I notice there wasn't hardly a crowd to persuade the influence of shopping there. However, the order came quicker than me. Before pulling off, I examined the food and to my liking, it look quiet delicious. The aroma from the bag had me hypnotized or maybe I was just hungry. To be clear, the gas station across the street has better food than them.

Once I took a bite of the food, I instantly tasted the "sea" of the fish. To elaborate, I ordered a two piece fish and three shrimps along with a side of fries and hush puppies. The fish instantly threw me off and after a bite of the shrimps I was done for. The fries were already made-to-go as if they were sitting there for more than the cook time on the fish. However, the hush puppies were decent but in the end result, I threw the whole plate away.

I went to this establishment today along with my older sister and my fiance and my 13 year old son. My son ordered honey gold hot wings my sister lemon pepper my fiance has a chicken tenders and I had a three piece of whiting meal. I began with my food the three-piece whiting fillets first off the pieces were small, and very fishy not worth nearly $8 and the wines weren't crispy according to my sister and son the honey gold sauce was also very watery. Not worth the money at all highly disappointed. I had eaten here previously and the food was awesome that's why I was comfortable bringing my family. But after this visit I won't be returning highly disappointed. And they forgot my damn coleslaw. Wish I could...
