First time visiting Fancy’s and it was a less than pleasant experience. It’s giving a very casual diner experience. You are definitely paying for location. We ordered a variety of food which included crab cakes, halibut, mahi-mahi, brussels sprouts, asparagus, cream corn, fingerling potatoes, and macaroni & cheese Here’s the good: The halibut and corn were perfect. Brussel sprouts and asparagus were okay.(nothing to write home about). The macaroni is overcooked, oversized shells. (velvetta would’ve been better). Potatoes were dreadful, very salty. The mahi had me in a chokehold, it should only be served with a complimentary beverage. It was so dry I could barely get it down my throat. Cocktails were okay, if you like backyard booze. On to the server, The service was horrible. Although the server was pleasant she lacked in customer service. We were a party of 2 but noticed that she dedicated all of her time to a nearby larger table. Let me add we visited at 4:30p it was only 3 other tables seated with other servers working, but with each interaction with our server, we were told we had to wait. (To place order, drinks, napkins, when asked for the check her response was “do you need it now”? I believe we could’ve saved some time and money and had a better experience at Captain D’s. Needless to say this was a first and last time visit. The name should be changed to Plain-Janes.The only thing close to being Fancy about this place is the valet service. This was a $200...
Read moreI really wanted this to be THE NEXT GREAT SEAFOOD RESTAURANT THAT MEMPHIS NEEDS. Unfortunately, it is not. I went for the 4pm-6pm Happy Hour $1 Oysters. I was seated at the nearly empty bar and saw that there was only 1 lady shucking oysters and it was taking her about 2 minutes per oyster to shuck. I should have left then. My server came and I ordered 1 draft beer, 1 water and 4 west coast, 4 east coast and 4 gulf oysters. They ran out of the west coast oysters before my order came. When my east coast and gulf coast oysters came after 45 minutes they were full of shell pieces. It was obvious to me the lady shucking was new and did not know what she was doing. They need at least 3 people who know how to shuck oysters not someone who was working at Wendy’s last month. In fact, the staff appeared to be NOT working. My beer arrived 30 minutes after I ordered it. I ordered the $18 tuna tacos and they were horrible. There were 4 tiny pale pink slices of tough low quality tuna with some microgreens and some sauce. The sauce was not bad. But the size was Very Small for $18. I order the Tuna Tataki at Outback Steakhouse and that puts this to shame. Fancy’s needs to hire experienced managers and servers who have worked at Fine Dining Restaurants, not former Wendy’s employees. I predict failure in less than 1 year unless they get the quality...
Read moreOn Sunday was his off day, so he wanted to get out and enjoy the weather. Downtown Memphis was the perfect option to do that and also walk around. We stumbled upon a new restaurant during our walk, and he wanted to dine and give them a try. The ambiance inside was just as breathtaking as their patio outside. Even in the daytime, the inside was dimly lit, so we chose to move and eat on the patio. After dinner, it was nightfall, and indoors was very bright, so I snagged several pictures. The maitre d' prior to us leaving saw me taking pics and instantly stated that they also had a private dining area. I couldn't help but capture that lovely dining experience, too. Our waiter was extremely attentive to us and the other tables. My meal was great, and the corn hush puppies were bright and airy like cake, not gritty, and the crabcakes were divine. Might I also add that the view dining on the patio, accommodated by nice weather, was perfect to eat and look at the mighty Mississippi River. #memphisfoodie #memphisfoodblogger #downtowndining #googleguide #yelpreview #twitterposts #instagramblogger #facebookblogger #tiktokposts #seafood #ambience #fancysfishhouse...
