Juan Viramontes, the manager, is not fit to run a lemonade stand. I was a regular customer here since I'm regularly at the Concourse, but will not be back after my latest experience.
The cashier forgot to charge me for my drink (oops!!!), so Juan thought it was appropriate to yell at me for several minutes in front of other customers. Loudly, wrongly accusing someone of trying to steal $2.50 from a business is not a very nice thing to do. I specifically ordered a fountain drink and assumed I had already paid for it.
I said I was fine with paying the $2.50 they forgot to charge, but told him to stop talking to me that way and to rescind his accusation—I've never seen anyone so visibly angry. The tirade did not stop. Juan refused to acknowledge that the mistake was the cashier's, and would not back down from his inappropriate behavior despite the security team's attempts at calming him down. The security team handled the situation very professionally. My guess is the scenes happen regularly with Juan.
People like Juan can be a huge liability for a business. He will try to publicly embarrass customers if a worker makes a small, honest mistake. All it does is embarrass the business. He will go running to security if you tell him to be nice. Security will tell you everything's cool and that you're welcome back any time. My advice if for some reason you decide to go here after reading this: order water...
Edit: Based on response, owner does not understand the situation. I didn't try to steal from anyone. Next time you should try an apology maybe? I appreciate that, if nothing else, you acknowledged that your daughter likely made the mistake. Though your use of the word "protected" is loaded and unnecessary. Save the manipulative language. What did Juan protect your daughter from? A peaceful day? It would have been great if she had owned up to the mistake, but I get it I'm sure the whole situation was super embarrassing. Juan came out and started yelling at me while I was sitting outside waiting 40 minutes for my food. Imagine seeing your parent's #1 employee freak out at a customer because you denied putting in their...
Read moreI visited this place about a week ago and had a really bad experience. I ordered the peanut stew and was disappointed because of how it tastes. In my opinion, it had no flavor, it didn’t taste original at all and if it had peanut butter in it, it was an extremely low amount. I used to work there when the Somalian lady was there, but I don’t think she's there anymore, however, the stew wasn’t nearly as good as it was before. I sat down outside of the restaurant with the stew, had taken a taste and quickly realized that I didn’t like it. I returned to the restaurant in hopes of understanding but was ridiculed and disrespected by the owner for not liking the stew. He assured me that it wasn’t anything wrong with the stew and that its like it always have been. I listened to him very quietly and agreed that it may not have anything wrong with it but i was dissatisfied and would like my money back. He caused a big scene, was very loud and called security, but in the mist of it all, I eventually received my money back(The Goal😉) and was told by the owner to never return. Is this how you treat dissatisfied customers? He needs to go to anger management and learn how to deal with people. He clearly was not having a good day and he may have some unhealed trauma. PLEASE SEEK HELP!!! A heads up, i was told by security that he is always like that. Smh, please beware of this man’s attitude and disability to understand your dissatisfaction of the food that they...
Read moreA group of friends and I travelled to Memphis for a little day trip, and one of them requested that we go to Global Cafe, their favorite restaurant in Memphis. They are gluten free, and so we went knowing that there would at least be food available for them. I ordered the Fajita de Pollo Wrap, my friend got the Asado Bowl, and my other two friends got the Chicken Shawarma and Street Tacos. We decided to eat outside as it was a good day out, but the inside is a vibe too. Definitely a cafeteria type vibe, which is great for meeting new people and of course experiencing different cultures together(hence the name). I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this cafe. Our food came, and all of my friends' food looked amazing. Mine looked a little lack luster, but I tried not to judge a book by its cover. I took one bite of my wrap and really wasn't that impressed. My chicken was dry, and the chips and salsa that came with it were pretty bland, only spicy. I did enjoy the street tacos, but the chicken in the Shawarma also tasted pretty dry. We needed to add a lot of sauce to make it better. My friend's asado bowl looked pretty good and of course they ate all of it, so I'm not sure on the taste of that, but it might be the only good thing that came out of our four orders, in my opinion. Our service was helpful, and so I can't necessarily blame them for the food. Overall, it wasn't necessarily a bad experience, but the food, to me, isn't...
