Food pulls through, honestly as a Mexican born It wasnt authentic as other may say, the food is that the chips and salsa are genuinely good and I would eat them again for sure, the mediocre shows with the torta that doesnât even use the right bread to be called a torta and the tortillas couldâve been heated up in a microwave for all I know and the Al Pastor is literally just carnitas that they garnish with the very closest to core cut of pineapple, that being said the torta description explicitly says they use a hoagie instead of bolillo. I personally wish they had even spicier sauces but this place is definitely Caucasian oriented and I didnât have any issues with the selection they do have,The service was good, they spoke Spanish and considering how busy it was at my time of coming in (6:37) it was more than acceptable. I got my check and a box for the other half of my torta which was not very large but itâs definitely a meal, the absolute best thing I have to say about this place is the price. The prices were incredibly cheap which honestly made the food significantly more tolerable with the torta being a bit over $6. Since there is an atmosphere category as well I believe this is where itâs lacking the most, the place is way too open, I didnât see any booths, the open concept causes so much echo and so everyone speaks incredibly loud over the noise of everyone else talking, table was slightly dirty, since theyâre busy they have no hostess so you are standing around for a while, and I think this is actually a good thing but no music, the talking is already so loud I wouldnât wish for music in here for everyone to need to speak over that as well, overall 3/5 is a mediocre experience
Food was decent, service was good, price...
Read moreI have been twice recently, and it has gone down greatly...they have deviated from the tried-and-true Mexican restaurant formula. Instead of a very long menu with tons of choices, their menu is now very stripped-down, just one sheet, front and back. There are no entrees/plates like you find at similar places.
I got a chicken burrito. At $6, the price was right, and it wasn't bad, just very unremarkable. The only bad part was the tortilla, which was not hot or soft enough. The rest of it was average. I also got the charro pinto beans, which I believe were $6, but they were bad. Spicy but otherwise little flavor, and the pork pieces were limp. The enchiladas suizas were OK but not the best. I could taste that unseasoned chicken flavor, and the green sauce was a bit too acidic for my taste. I ordered an horchata, which was awful. It was clearly not homemade, just a Tang-style powder, and extremely watered-down. I immediately sent it back, and at least they did not charge me for it. Even the chips and salsa were subpar...the chips were extremely greasy (likely old and fried for a second or third time) and did not taste good.
Also, unlike other Mexican restaurants, there is no charming decor here, nor are there comfortable booths. It is simply one large dining room (there is a smaller dining room in the back) with no booths, just fairly small 4-person tables. Feels too much like dining at a school cafeteria. The server was not friendly either.
Considering that all the other Mexican restaurants around town are so similar and superior to this place, I do not recommend...

They clearly have their restaurant operation down pat. They seat you rapidly and have a good cadence about the way they bring out chips, bring water and take your order.
The food came out within 8 to 10 minutes and it was just perfectly flavored!
While we could have left within 30 minutes of arrival, the relaxed atmosphere kept us there for another half-hour or so. We even ordered a second round.
The Aztec chicken soup is better than your grandma's best chicken soup. I even know people who get their Aztec to go if they have a cold. The soup is FULL of shredded chicken and is topped with a slice of avocado.
One person got the chicken quesadillas, which was stuffed with oodles of chicken. Another person got the shrimp quesadilla that was also stuffed to the hilt. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
When the check came, my husband stopped the server and said, "Ah, my wife and I are on the same check." Ends up the check was so reasonable, he thought it was too low to have combined both of our orders. $22 bucks for two meals and he had two beers.
I've been wanting to eat here forever and I have a feeling this will become...
