Mammy’s Dish Ethiopian Restaurant and Bar — Restaurant in Memphis

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would! My husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch date and to grab some veggies to go and it was hands-down the best Ethiopian food I have ever had. Animut, the owner, is so kind and hospitable and was happy to share his culture with us. I didn’t look at a menu because I called on the way, but trust it’s all delicious. We had the beef tibs with some of their berbere sauce on the side. The beef and vegetables had a comforting, warm flavor and were not too oily. The sauce was spicy, but in the depth of flavor way, not the “chug water while crying” way, haha.

The restaurant is new but the grocery they own next door isn’t, so be sure to check them out too. If they don’t answer the phone right away, please be patient as this is a new small family operation. I received a call back not too long after I dialed. Also be patient if it takes them a couple minutes to attend to you when you come in. They really are so lovely.

I have had the pleasure to meet the wife and husband ( owners ) and they are the most welcoming people ever. Inside is very nice and clean , great atmosphere. The food is absolutely wonderful the taste is amazing no matter which cut of meat , it will be TENDERRR regardless! You can tell they take their cooking seriously and I really admire that about them. The food is seasoned perfectly and I was surprised to know that one of the sides were chickpeas! It is actually So so good! There restaurant was my first Ethiopian experience and let’s just say I’ve been back 4 times now within 2 weeks. They way that they portion , I guarantee you the meal is worth it. Really great family run Ethiopian restaurant with lovely atmosphere and awesome food. I had the vegetarian platter with chickpeas, red lentils, cabbage, green beans, beets, and Enjera.
