Memphis Jamaican Kitchen — Restaurant in Memphis

My sister and I were driving by, and saw this truck……. We made the sharpest turn into the parking lot, and that was the best decision we made all day! The customer service was amazing. Actually, the best I’ve had in so long. We laughed from the moment we got there to the second we left. While waiting for our order, we remembered a TikTok video that suggested that poor customer service at a Jamaican restaurant means excellent food. That was far from the truth, at Memphis Jamaican Kitchen. The menu had such a wide variety of well seasoned food, cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were large, so if you’re trying to unbig your back, maybe eat in 3 different seatings. I ordered oxtail, rice and peas, Mac n cheese and plantain. My sister ordered curry goat, rice and peas, Rasta pasta? (I think that’s what it’s called) and plantain. We got home and realized we were accidentally locked out, but we didn’t care. We sat in the car and devoured our food. We saved our other sister a plate, and she couldn’t finish everything either. The food’s more than enough for 3-4 people. Please don’t reduce the portion sizes. We’ll definitely come back and recommend this place....

They're hiring or at least they should be. I drove out of my way to order try this place for the first time. I wanted fish & dumplings, but the man at the counter said he didn't have time to make the dumplings since it was just him and one other person. He was both the chef and cashier.

He then said I could just order fish, and I asked him if he would lower the price because there would be no dumplings- he said no because it's a big piece of fish. That made no sense to me, so then I said what if I order a side instead of the dumplings then he agreed that would work.

Unfortunately, it turned out that they were out of fish too or at least it wasn't prepped.

I gave two stars because he did greet everyone that walked in, but it was definitely not a great...

I ordered the wet jerk chicken today.. plate My mouth was watering for the jerk spice flavor on my chicken but , I was very disappointed because my chicken was not jerking …it tasted like regular falling off the bone baked chicken … with brown coloring no flavor … I’m sorry I’m just disappointed it was no jerk flavor for me I have eaten several different Jamaican restaurants in Atlanta and here in Memphis surrounding areas but I never tried Jamaican Kitchen this was first time , now the plantains were delicious… cabbage was great … coconut rice peas were dry. But and all I did to their location on Madison Ave .. I truly love it ! Atmosphere was amazing awesome customer service… I will be back to...
