Shawarma To Go — Restaurant in Memphis

Google Maps says this spot is permanently closed, but I literally ordered dinner from them on Uber Eats just a few days ago—so something doesn’t add up.

Anyway, I’d seen a bunch of glowing reviews about the place, so I figured I’d give it a try. I ordered the beef shawarma wrap with seasoned fries. The food arrived moderately warm—not piping hot, but not cold either.

First impressions: the wrap was pretty big, definitely filling for one person. But here’s where things got strange—while it was labeled as beef, I started catching a strong lamb smell. And I am Not a fan of lamb, so that was a problem. Whether it was gyro-style mixed meat or just lamb disguised as beef, I couldn’t tell. Either way, I had to toss most of it, which sucked.

As for the fries—meh. They showed up soggy and didn’t have much of a crunch or kick. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about.

Overall? Not the worst, but definitely not what I hoped for. Would I order again? Probably not—unless they fix the meat mix-up and upgrade...

It is supposed to be a Shawarma to go! the to go order took an hour. To begin with I ordered in store for a to go order the guy kept getting my order wrong. after 4 tries he finally got it right. There was only one guy preparing the food and he was fussy and agitated. I mean a fight almost broke there between the guy who is preparing the food and the cashier made me very uncomfortable. I ordered three shawarma sandwich combos and a classic burger. The shawarma is waaaaaay overpriced for the quantity and the quality of the shawarma. barely any chicken in it and dry. the type of bread they used is small for what is considered a shawarma sandwich. and the "Matawama" which is the garlic sauce was so salty. I will say though the burger actually was really good. but overall, I would say I would not be coming back or ordering...

EDIT: They made it right! Great customer service!!! After I submitted my review they called me to apologize and asked me to give them another try. I wasn’t planning to return the same night because of the distance and traffic due to an accident, but the Half Charred Chicken we ordered was so good that we wanted to try the Mixed Shawarma immediately. It was so good, even my very picky kiddo ate everything! We will definitely be back!
