Tacos Los Jarochos — Restaurant in Memphis

If you blink, you might miss this delightfully authentic food truck/ice cream shop located between a Loan shop* and a Liquor store. I quickly found a parking spot and upon entering the door we were greeted by colorful walls and a clean shop. My son was more interested in desserts than dinner, but we were both able to find the right snack for us. The decorative walls were actually very helpful as pictures of all the fare were clear and the staff was able to answer any questions we had. As a Texan I am pretty particular about my south of the border cuisine, fortunately the chefs were able to satisy my end of the week snack attack needs with a touch savory and a bowl of sweet..

No longer just a taco truck, Tacos Los Jarochos now has an immobile ice cream shop right behind it. That also means some indoor seating.

Like it's more famous neighbor down Summer Ave., Tacos Los Jarochos is now a full service paleteria y neveria. They serve the things you're used to seeing at Mexican Ice Cream Shops.

One thing we noticed that's quite different is how their Aqua Frescas are prepared. Here, at TLJ, there is no milk or cream base. It's just fruit, water, and sugar (or there about.) They have your typical flavors of Jamaica, Horchata (which of course, is rice milk based) tamarindo, and others like watermelon and cantaloupe.

Great people! Great food! Great prices! The tacos are very well cooked and go great with their aguas frescas (refreshing fruit drinks). I personally like best the carne asada tacos and the agua de melón though everything I've had has been good. Everyone is very kind and helpful. These may not be the cheapest tacos but as the old saying goes "you get what you pay for." These are definitely worth the money. Buen...
