Out shopping and on the way home, Googled "Mexican" food on Summer Ave. Got several places, but we never heard of La Guadalapana, so we thought we'd give it a shot. My wife had the Burrito Dinner al pastor, and I had the Burrito Suiza Pollo. Beans are very thin and I barely could eat them. Rice was OK, though honestly, I'm not a big rice guy. My wife loved her Burrito. Mine was pretty good. They were pretty large so we each took half a burrito home. Service left something to be desired, virtually ignored, even at 2 30 and the place only 1/4 full. Every time someone entered the front door, the alarm sounded"front door open". I'm sure they do a good business. It's just not on my list of places to revisit.

Quality is bad now. Used to be great, I ate there for almost a decade. Since like April or May 2025, they serve you fat instead of meat. We order the same thing for years - pork tacos. One order should be meat only, the other is meat with fresh onion and cilantro. Now, it’s just rubbery lard and no meat. Here are the pictures from tonight’s dinner (July 2025). See the rubber for yourself - that’s all fat. Disgusting rubber - awful texture. Look at the fat to meat ratio.

I have frequented this Summer Avenue location many times over the past two decades, and it is easily one of the most consistent, authentic and affordable restaurants in the city. The photos I've included feature the Burrito lunch special. Along with being filling and delicious, the entire experience was under $15, even with a 50% tip. It would be hard to top this quality, quantity and price point in a full-service restaurant. Highly recommended.

I have been to quite a few mexican restaurants in my sixty years of life. I would say that ninety plus percent of them all have the same menu. They probably have the same supplier. And, of course, they all taste alike. The only difference being how much water they add to their cheese dip. Which of course I frown on quite enthusiastically. Our son lives not far from this restaurant. He told us we needed to go eat there and so course we made a date with him to just that very restaurant. You see, they have food trucks that they park around different areas around and outside of Memphis. My son has been a big supporter of these trucks. Anyway, he said, "mom, their food is the best I have ever had." I dearly enjoy mexican food and can eat it daily without any problem. I have been to only one authentic mexican restaurant. That was many years ago in houston texas. I found out that this restaurant is absolutely authentic mexican food. Their beef is incredibly flavourful. Every item on the menu is worth its weight in gold.... it is so mouth wateringly good. Unfortunately, this restaurant is almost two hours from where I live. I have already eaten there twice and the second time was just as wonderful as the first. Compared to the other mexican restaurants in Memphis this one is a hidden gem. It is so good that I cannot even go to taco bell anymore. And I quite enjoyed taco bell for forty years. So if you are if you ever find yourself in the memphis area please do yourself a favor and visit this wonderful mexican restaurant. You will be rewarded in a way you've never...

I have enjoyed this restaurants food many times, but I had an experience with them recently that made me sick. emergency room up all night sweating and vomiting. called to talk to the manager to warn them to check their product because something wasn't right with my food. instead of being met with an apology, I get hung up on, not once but three times trying to talk with the manager. so I went in to speak with the manager directly. the rude waitress that had the attitude and kept hanging up on me wouldn't look my way or even speak. to be fair, the manager didn't know I had even called and even he just wanted me out so I wouldn't cause a scene which made no since considering I talked calmly the entire time and told him I liked enjoyed their establishment and wanted no trouble but the treatment I received was uncalled for. I said nothing about suing or being compensated for the ER visit I just wanted to Inform him of what I experienced and to get them to check over their products. everyone is not out for something for free I sincerely wanted to warn them because I did enjoy the food there from time to time. I definitely do NOT plan to eat here ever again. they don't wear gloves or hair nets and I hope this never happens to anyone else. enjoy the health inspection... BEWARE OF THE...

Normally the food I get here is good, but pricey for Mexican food. However, yesterday my food was bland, cold, and tasteless, and overcharged. I got one torta, one tamale, and 4 chile rellenos - and it was almost $40. I was overcharged for the rellenos (the menu says they're $3.99 each, and he charged me $20 for 4 of them so he rang them up at $5 each), and they were soggy and had no taste. It was almost funny because I saw him ring them up for the right price and then delete it and charge me more. I asked if the menu prices had changed, and he said no, so I just went with it, hoping my food would be worth it. It wasn't. The torta had good flavor, but I had to eat it with a fork because they smashed all of the ingredients in there and crushed the bread to the point where it was falling apart and everything fell out of it. The tamale also had no flavor. I won't...
