Lotus Vietnamese Restaurant — Restaurant in Memphis

The information about this restaurant said they opened at 5:00 pm. We had driven all day from Ohio and were ready to eat dinner. When we arrived at 5:10, the door was locked, but the owner came to meet us. He said the dining room was closed, but he gave us a menu and said he’d bring the food to our car. About ten minutes later, he came to the car to collect our money (said he preferred cash) we paid. It seemed high for what we ordered, but the reviews were good. This is a long story, but we literally waited TWO HOURS for our food. We made several trips starting at 6:00 o’clock, to the back door kitchen, and told the owner and his wife that we needed our food or our money back. They kept saying it would be right out. My wife and I just finished their Lunar New Year special dinner entree. We ordered a number of appetizers, the soup and the sweet & sour fish.

Every dish we have ever had at Lotus has been amazing, so we were expecting an incredible experience. With that said, this was mind blowingly fantastic. Easily the best catfish I've ever eaten. It was like all the yumminess we have come to expect from Lotus and then something more.

I cannot rave enough about how heart-full their cooking is. It's a family run business that truly cares about its community and we thoroughly thank them for helping us feel like family with their generous Lunar New Year celebratory meal!

If I could give a 4.5 star I would. It's close to perfection this pho. The only disappointment is how little of that absolutely delicious broth came with the take out beef pho.

I most definitely recommend Lotus if at least to taste the broth once while you can.

The owner was quite amenable and you can tell this is the type of restaurant. He told me the same story: The broth has been slow cooked for 100 hours. No wonder what turns out is so minimal but so delicious; it's a like a small batch pho broth.
