What happened La Unica? I am crushed! The Summer Ave location had the best tamales and salsas prior to your move across the intersection. You sold the absolute BEST tamales and tortillas within a 100 mile radius. We enjoyed them for over a decade. July 15, 2021 I ordered our usual dozen tamales (pollo, res y puerco). You included one single 2 oz container of salsa roja for 12 tamales so I requested salsa verde. While waiting, I picked up a glass soda bottle which cost $2.75. Our tamales were marked with green ink imprinted on almost all the corn husks encasing the tamales. I noticed the salsa roja looked thin and watery. It tasted like canned tomato juice spiked with capsaicin. It was a thin watery canned tomato product. I only tasted one tamale pictured before I stopped eating. It was dry enough to cleanly crack open. The aroma and taste of the beef filling was foul, old and stale. Please bring back the best tamales.

Lovely surprise. Not much to look at but the dining room and food is a superior addition to the Summer corridor. First off, following COVID guidelines. Food was well prepared and delicious. I hate refried beans and rice but these were tasty;fortunately, he also had really tasty whole pinto beans. Oh, man, they were good. I had an al pastor street taco, two chicken tamales and more than enough to share with my mom. But It is the sauces! Both red and green were tangy, bright and spicy. My husband had the al pastor burrito, the closest he's found to a San Francisco Mission style burrito. Chips and salsa fresh and homemade. If I like the chips and salsa, I'm almost guaranteed to enjoy the food. Only drawback was the runny white cheese queso. Advise you skip that. We ordered water, which arrived in huge cups. Free, easy parking. Service was so friendly and cheerful. We are headed back soon.

Once this restaurant is USDA inspected, I will be the inspector. If you are looking for and familiar with good authentic tamales, this where you need to be. I'm picky with my tamales, I can make my own and do a fairly good job for a sister lol. Mine mirror their's, just the way I love them. Seasoned, and the right amount of heat, perfection 👌 🔥 🥰 😋

I visited for the first time today. No referral. I just decided to try them out. The cashier was friendly & professional. The restaurant appeared clean and well kept. The food was prepared quickly. I ordered a Tostada and 3tacos and rice. The Tostada was a 10! The tacos were asada. The meat was well seasoned but the shells didn't taste cooked or heated. The rice was ok...not very flavorful but still good. I enjoyed all of the food and I will return again for sure. I will try other items off the menu particularly a burrito...
